AMC AMX 1969 Description
1969 AMC AMX. All numbers match. All the pieces are here. To the best of my knowledge everything works other than the radio that is not hooked up. The bad: (and there is a long list here)Needs lots of metal work. Floors. rockers. fender troughs etcThe engine has ticked when it gets warm for the past 15 years. Pretty much since it was rebuilt. Trans should probably be gone over too. If parked on a hill it doesn't like to go into reverse unless you drop it into gear first. needs seatscould use carpetradio isn't hooked up. Literally just sitting in there. tires are really old and should be replaced if you plan on driving it. there is an oil leak (which I just noticed)The good:Numbers matchingstock rebuilt 290 (needs lead additive)borg warner shift command transsolid exterior metalPaint was redone about 17 years ago and is still goodAs far as I can tell; everything works. Starts. runs. drives. Doesn't overheatShifts smoothNo weird shaking or rattling or anything unusual for a car of this age. Some more notes:The car has 4 wheel drum brakes. Hard to stop. but that's just the way they are. Nothing wrong with them. just old school. This car has had the motor redone to factory spec. but its about due again. The paint is in pretty good shape still. The color is actually a Saturn paint code. It has metallic and gold pearl clear coat. There are ghost stripes all the way across the top of the car from hood to trunk. and they look really good in person. Very faint. You have to look for them in most light. Sometimes the car looks brown. and other times you would swear that its just gloss black. This car could be a great driver with a little work. Just do the floors and rockers and drive it until there is an issue. With more work it could be a very nice driver. or do a swap (and ruin the numbers matching part of the car) and have a super fun toy that isn't seen on every corner in the summer (like an f-body or mustang). If you have any questions feel free to message me and I will answer them the best that I can. The reserve is relatively low on this car considering what you are getting for the money. but the last car I sold had over $26k invested and sold for $12k and apparently he was expecting a show car. Just to be clear; it is NOT a show car. and you will easily be able to find fault. That is true with any car. but I feel like I have to say it. I'm trying to be fair and honest with what it is so that everyone leaves happy. but if you don't do your homework and consider the pro's with the con's then you will never be able to appreciate what a good deal this actually is. Nobody seems to consider the decades of care. parking in the back of a parking lot if you go anywhere. storing the cars in a climate controlled garage while your daily driver sits outside. tracking down parts. and investing time and energy into refinishing and researching. Please understand that this car has been around for a long time and it takes money and time to keep these cars up and when they are sold you WILL take a loss. I accept that. but I just want to make sure that you do too! Thanks for looking. Like I said before; feel free to message with any questions. Oh yeah. here is a copy and paste link to a youtube video of the car. It is a walk around. starting. and driving this car on 4/12/2015. https://youtu. be/OS_2AGaaCFEHappy bidding.
