AMC Javelin 1973 Description

Up for auction is a 1973 AMC Javelin SST project car. This is a very rare original Z code 401 car. This a very solid and great project car with many new parts and a good head start. Unfortunately the 401 is gone and the car is being sold WITHOUT an engine. This is an original Vineyard Burgundy/Black car that was equipped with nice options like the 401, utomatic, C, isc brakes, and a factory stereo.AC componentsand radio are not present.

As far as the condition of the body, he carspent most of it's life in Arizona and therefore hasvery little rustissues so that is a bigbonus. There is some slight bubbling in the lowerright quarter panel and I found an amateur patch job to the passenger side floor pan about 4 by 10 inches. A leaky heater core looks to have been the cause in my opinion.I removed the passenger side fenderand found the fender trough tohave some crusty areas as well. The rest of the car is very straight and solid. Trunk, ockers, rame supports, loor, nner fenders, oors, ood are all solid.

Other than the engine, he car is pretty complete and in fact has a lot of new parts along with some spares. The previous owner wanted to make an AMX out of the car so he purchased a nice Tach/140 MPH cluster and AMX overlay. He also purchased but never installed a brand new and correct for year and AMX under dash wiring harness. I have laid the harness in the car but have not connected anything up yet. Also included is abrand newengine feed wiring harness under hood. Same for the instrument cluster. I put it in along with other dash trim for picture purposes. It all needs to be properly installed and sorted out. I have all the exterior trim items to go with the car including wheel opening moldings, mblems, oor trim, runk trim, tc.

Here is even more bonus items that will save you money and time:

  • Brand new disc brakes up front
  • New tie rod ends, all joints and suspension bushings
  • Newer BFG radials mounted on Crager SS wheels
  • Brand new Legendary interior both front and rear. This would cost you at least $1500. Carpet looks new as well
  • Previously mentioned wiring harnesses. These retail new for around $500.
  • Freshly rebuilt 727 automatic with high speed stall converter.

All told, here is about $3000 worth of new or rebuilt parts that come with the car. I have compete power steering pumps/brackets, lternator and brackets, tc. You basically need to add the engine and you could have a running classic to drive while you restore. The car obviously does not run so take that into consideration when estimating shipping costs.

I have a 72 AMX car that is also a project car so I have been collecting numerous and duplicate parts for it so I have some additional AMX interior trim items that could be available at additional cost. I also have a complete running, icely built 360 that came out of a 72 Gremlin X that I was considering for this 73 car that is also available for additional costs. It was built by a local speed shop several years ago but has very few miles on it. It was properly balanced and blue printed and made around 365 HP at the flywheel.

Conclusion: Very solid and honest project car with lots of parts for a fair price. Please feel free to ask any questions. The car is not for sale anywhere else and I will attempt to sell it here first before I try local advertising. A non-refundable $500 deposit is due at the conclusion of the auction. Balance in cash, ire transfer or cashiers check. Good luck and feel free to ask questions.
