Buick Riviera 1958 Description
1958 Buick Special / Riviera 2drUp for Auction: awesome very rare cool old Buick !Some of the coolest cars built and desirable from 58 arethe Chevy Impala and Plymouth Fury (aka Christine). This car epitomizes both in a way into 1 car for an affordable price. The Riviera was one of Buicks top of the line cars in 58the car screams art-deco design with enough chrome on thecar for 3 cars !This 58 Buick has aprox 61. xx original miles Box A title meaning by Az documentation is actual miles. also the history told to us by recent owners confirms the car was used not often used. Once the carb idle issue is fixed. it would be easier to drive. but asis. Ive taken it up to the local Quick Trip to get gas and stuff andit gets alot of attention already. Thats not to say it doesnt need resto and repairs. but you cansimply drive it as is around town and fix it up as when you havethe extra time and money. Sometime in the late 60s the car wasrepainted a similar color to the factory color and not all thatbad of a job either. But now the paint is very faded and baked. Some people love it just as is. Personally if I where to keep it. Id tune up the motor and do thecarb rebuild. Then Id redo the headliner and dr side door paneladd a new trunk mat outback and drive it just like that !Its so close to original. Id only worry about painting it down theroad a ways. Dr side flat door glass is cracked too. Car starts easily every time with the factory Starter switch on the floor. Im pretty sure the carb should be rebuilt as it doesntlike to idle when its cold. but once warms up its not too bad. Its not seen a tune up for many yrs. but still runs well for its ageand fun to drive around the neighborhood. This car was bought new in the WA area and lived there fromaprox 58-65. Its around 65 when the owners moved to Tucsonwhere the owners had thick vinyl seat covers professional installedover the stock upholstery ! DRIVETRAIN: the original motor runs and sounds good. The factory 363 V8 Motor sounds good. transmission worksfine and overall works well. Could maybe use some cleaningand detailing under the hood. PS and PB work well too. Dont see anything missing. The gas tank was removed andcleaned out professionally too and some of the old fuellines where replaced. Its a factory 2v Carter carb too. INTERIOR: as mentioned earlier. the f/r seats where coveredwith thick vinyl covers back in 1966. For sure it needs a littlework from sitting in the AZ sun for many yrs. but I think if the dr side door panel and headliner where fixed. it would bewell enough to drive everyday. Radio delete car too. Does have a clock. Carpet is old and faded. but usable. Windows all roll down and up. Im going to remove the vinyl seat covers/protectors this weekand add more pics to the auction once I do so we can see whatsunderneath. Ill carefully cut them off. Im not going to take apart the seat like when they where installed. but Im dying to see how the original seats held up. All the gauges work except for the gas gauge. not 100% sureits working. EXTERIOR: Original color was 2 tone: Glacier White on top withGarnet Red lower. It was repainted in the late 60s the currentcolor you see now. obviously very faded. The only real place Ican see signs of rust is the pass side lower rocker forward of therear wheel. There are some smaller areas of course that havesome mild rust. but for a 50+ yr old car. Az has been really niceto the sheetmetal. Check out ALL the pics below to get a betteridea of what we see when going over and under the car. The one pcs of trim missing off the car. is in the trunk. It needsnew hardware. SUSPENSION: all factory the best I can tell. I think the shocks where also replaced with HD gas shocks. While driving around the suspension reallydoes feel solid and predictable. Personally Id have no problemwith driving it as is everyday with the suspension as is. Brakes also feelokay. Seeing as the car is this old. chances are the new owner would make checking the brake system a priority. Maybe new rubber lines etcjust to be safe and check out rest of the system in the near future. Leave it stock or put some retro 20" wheels on it with some wide whites ?Tires are in great shape. almost new but they where bought new about 5 yrs ago. Just didnt get any miles put on them. Around town they would be fine. Check out ALL the pics below -----> (there are over 200 pix!)it may take a full minute for them all to load if you have aslow connection. so be patient AND looks for the extra scroll bar on the right side. Az gets maybe 12" a yr of rain and Az very dry climate. more info AFTER the pics etc. There are 100 large pics. There you have it. probably The BEST represented GMs on Ebay. Shows you all the good as well as any bad. hope you appreciate them. We put a lot of time and effort in marketing our cars and it shows. People wait months for a car this solid to come up for saleand even if you have to pay shipping to your area. it still beatspaying a body shop to hopefully fix a rusty car for weeks on end. Having as much as the original steel on a restored car these daysspeaks volumes. Also. if you buy a car thats been "restored". who knows what sortof surprises are hidden under new paint or thick undercoating. People are flipping cars all the time when most of the jobs arefast. for a quick buck and quality suffers. Our auctions have NOTHING to hide . Restore a car like this yourself or locally and you knowexactly what you have in the end. Email us with ANY questions before you bid please If you treat yourself to buying one of our vehiclesyoull never buy a total rust bucket again from anyone !!Our Impeccable FEEDBACK speaks for itself. We show you as much feasibly possible via pics. Doing restoration on this type of project is less laborintensive which means overall cost is less too !With less horrid surprises later on. Dont let auctions with little to no pics try to fool you. With other auctions. you really dont know what to expect until you take the car apart. While we go over our cars ALL OVERwith great pics to help making your decision easier. Along with ANY other questions you may have. Email me for a quote for shipping. ARIZONA TITLE IN HAND Keep in mind. this is not a restored car !!CAR MUST BE PICKED UP WITHIN 14 days of auctionsEND ! we can no longer store cars for anyone !!Unless other arrangements have been made before auction ends. Can help with shipping outside the USA too if you need help. But keep in mind. the car cant ship until you get your titlefrom us in hand. This car. you can see clearly what to expect with no surprisesand our Feedback speaks for itself !EMAIL US WITH ANY QUESTIONS PLEASE !!Car will obviously ship as an INOP. IF you need a shipping quote. just email us with your city/stateand Ill find out our best quote for you !! No problem helping it to the docks if you are shipping overseas . If you have to wait for the title to ship your car. it still needs tobe paid for and shipped from our holding lot as mentioned inthe ad. When we get the title for it. we will fedex it to you. If there is a winner. please email me when the auction endsand say Hi and we can take it from there.
