Pontiac Trans Am 1978 Description

Up for bid is a one year only special edition numbers matching 1978 Y88 Trans Am with the WS6 performance package. The body and floor boards are solid with minimal surface rust and there should be no metal work done in those areas of the car. There is a small patch in the trunk area on the floor that will need some attention as you will see in the photos. Included will be a nice console that I kept for this car from my W72 which is in great shape. There is no shaker or base with this car which is how I bought the car. The engine starts but makes an awful sound like a collapsed liter and will most likely need to be overhauled. The engine code is YU Pontiac 400 and the serial numbers on the block match the vin. The automatic transmission functions as it should but the breaks will need attention (Master Cylinder). The car has a functional power trunk and originally came with power windows and locks but for some reason is hand crank now. but the harness is still there. The dash is toast and will need to be replaced. the seats are in great shape and a shampoo job should bring them back to life. The car is missing a couple of rear interior pieces but I believe I have the sail panels. The heads. intake and exhaust manifolds I believe are true to the car. As you can see. it looks as the front driver's side fender. bumper and hood have been replaced. but there appears to be no sign of frame damage or repairs. The car has the gold t-tops which are in good shape. I'm sure I am leaving something out but have hit on the most important facts of the car to the best of my knowledge. Please feel free to message me with questions before bidding and have payment and transportation lined up prior to making a bid. If you are in the Houston area and would like to see inspect the car in person. just contact me to arrange a time. I live about an hour north of Houston and 30 minutes from Collage Station. Tx. If you are interested in a restoration project Trans Am. this car is where you will want to start. Low production number and S. E cars cost the same to restore as a lesser version. but yield a much better return in the end. All PHS documentation will be included in the sale as well. Happy bidding!
