Buick Other 1956 Description

  • 1956 Buick Special 4-Door Sedan with Original 322 5.3 Liter V-8 Motor with Original Automatic Transmission

  • Description written by current owner:
Car is very original and in very good shape inside and out. I acquired this car from a gentleman that had owned it for almost 40 years and was a past president of the Erie ChapterofTheBuick Club of America. This car was stored and driven exclusively for parades car shows and drives around the beach. Car is very original including the original spare tire with the factory jack in its original box. Car has all the manuals from 1956 including tags for cigarette lighter (still works) rust proofing tags and Buick oil change stickers in original Buick envelope. Car was repainted in the original factory color in lacquer paint approximately 35 years ago and is still in excellent condition. The interior headliner door panels carpets and seats are in very good shape but there are tears on the driver’s side. The engine compartment at one point had been detailed and is also very clean. Car has newer belts and hoses. All the glass and seals are intact and all the windows work as they should including the locking wing windows. Doors and locks shut and lock perfectly and car still has the original key (only one key). The car has the original tube AM radio and works perfectly. All the controls such as the heater windshield wipers (intermittent sluggish movement) high beams turning signals horn all work. Car has opera seats in the back from the factory where the seats in the back are actually up higher than the front seats where the passengers in the back have as good a view as the ones in the front. Car appears to be rust free underneath including the floor panels but there are some areas that are highlighted in the photos and video where rust may be under the paint. The chrome throughout the car inside and out is in good condition with minor dents and dings but there is pitting. The car has the original fender skirts in excellent condition although they are not on the car currently. They are however in the trunk. Car also has dual mirrors. Car has the original heat shield on the inside of the hood in perfect condition as well as many of the original stickers where they should be and also the original vehicle identification plate inside the front driver’s door. I have numerous receipts from things that have been done to the car over the years including replacement of manifold gasket rear springs and shocks rebuilt gear in power steering in 2001 replaced mufflers and water pump in 1999 and replaced generator about the same time. Car has a newer battery in good working order. The car runs well and is street ready although it hasn’t been driven the last 2 years and sometimes needs some starting fluid to get going. The carburetor and brakes will need to be gone through just to make sure they are ready for daily driving. I topped off all the fluids as needed but whoever buys this I would probably recommend changing out all fluids. It has been driven recently and my mechanic said it just needs the carb cleaned out from sitting that being said as it starts more often of late I think just some of the old gas needs used up in it. New gas has been added to tank. The original speedometer was replaced in 2004 when the car had 63000 on it (I have the original one which is included and pictured in the trunk). An original 1956 replacement speedometer that works was re-installed however the cable needs adjusted. Due to the car being in storage the 2 front tires had deflated to the rims and are replaced by just black walls. I have the matching two front tires with the whitewalls and they may be able to be re-mounted on car but I just took them off to try to get them back to original form from being deflated down to the rims. . The tread on the four whitewall tires is very good.

This car was owned by a friend of mines father in law for a very long time and was very well maintained and kept in very good original shape. The car speaks for itself with the pictures and video but the car looks just as good in person inside and out! I have quite a bit of provenance that goes with the car in the form of actual receipts of things that have been done to this vehicle. I also have a service manual that will go with the car an original tire that appears to be brand new as well as miscellaneous spare parts if the buyer wants them such as new air filter and a few misc things like that. I am starting this auction out with a very low opening bid compared to what I’ve seen with NO RESERVE. I’d really like to see this car go to an owner that takes care of this car as well as the previous owner has and hopefully maintain the originality of this car that has lasted up to now. This car is a very good representation of a 60 year old car that is in great shape well maintained with documentation and basically as original as they come.
