Buick Other 1958 Description
I am listing my 1958 Buick Limited only because it is necessary to fund another endeavor. This is an extremely nice survivor car with only 58. 14 miles. I bought this car only a couple hours from my house from the original family. specifically the grandson of the original owner in 2012. The title only changed as it was passed down in the family. The car was purchased in the same town and remained on this family property in a dry barn or garage its entire life until I bought it. and it was remained garaged. I have a letter from the grandson attesting to its history. I will list below all that I know of the car honestly. I will not describe this car to be better than it is - you can expect to be satisfied upon carefully reading this description and studying the pictures. I am including as many pictures as I can to show the car within the limits. If you use the "Buy It Now" option I will include a good speedometer. BODY:All original paint and no rust with exception of a very small spot on the front edge of the wheel well a few inches long on each side where the trim meets the wheel well; this has been touched up years ago and could use a small patch a couple inches perhaps if you want perfection. but it is hardly noticeable and almost nobody would notice it unless it was pointed out and the inspected closely. The paint shines beautifully and is very presentable. with only a few spots where it has rubbed through from polishing such as on the roof in a couple small places and on the driver side upper rear fin. There are also a few large scratches including on the top of the trunk area. roof. and passenger fender near headlights where the prior owner tells me a tornado blew part of the barn off and the car was hit with a piece of debris; luckily this was the only damage sustained! Otherwise there are some very tiny chips etc. that are normal for original paint this old. Overall extremely nice and way too nice to repaint in my opinion. The chrome is all original with the exception of 3 pieces - the 2 lower rear bumperettes and the left side rear gravel guard. I only rechromed these because they had a very small spot starting to rust through on each. They have been expertly repaired and rechromed to show standard. The remaining chrome on the rear is very. very nice original but not flawless. There is a tiny ding on the left rear bumper end. the top bumper center is faded as are nearly all original 58 Buicks. The tail light bezels have some bubbles on them - particularly on top and on fins in the middle; the parts on the sides and mostly perfect. The striped part on the rear bumper is completely original and is the nicest I have ever seen - completely flawless and shiny. The chrome on the front of the car including the entire grille. parking light surrounds. etc. is absolutely stunning and 99% flawless with only exception being a small dent on right lower corner of front bumper. which is normally hardly noticed. I would not touch any of it personally unless you wanted to repair the bumper for perfection. The stainless trim is nearly all perfect including on the front fender eyebrows. with only a couple tiny dings on the side. The emblems and scripts on the rear doors are 99% perfect. There is absolutely no rust anywhere underneath the car or in the trunk that I could find. I have a lift and have inspected every bit of the frame. trunk. rocker panels etc. and found nothing more than mild surface rust. The only rust anywhere on the non-painted surfaces I could find is in the flat spots under the headlights on the inner fenders. where pretty much every 58 Buick rusts out. It is only barely rusted on the passenger side. and a bit more on the driver side. This is only noticeable if you are looking for it. with the hood open. The trunk is very presentable and all original but has a few spots worn through. MECHANICAL:The engine is original with matching numbers and runs smoothly and strong. The car idles. accelerates. and rides nicely. It stops perfectly and assuredly and the booster and master cylinder function flawlessly. The original triple turbine transmission operates perfectly. Since I have owned the car I have done the following (all in last 2 years):All new brake lines and hoses from master cylinder to all 4 wheelsAll new dual exhaust with muffler and dual resonators as an exact reproduction of original style5 new Coker Classics (including spare)New upper and lower radiator hoses (molded with correct fit) and complete coolant flushCOMPLETE flush and replacement of transmission fluidOil change (each year)New ignition wires. cap. and rotor. Electronic Pertronix ignition (original style points can be replaced with no modification if desired)New hood insulationNew horn relayThis car is ready to drive and enjoy. I have not replaced the springs or shocks. so you may want to do that although I have not noticed any driving issues with them. The original Air-Poise suspension has been disabled for many years but most of it is intact except for the reservoir tank up front. The original lines and valves appear to be intact but I did not ensure that each one is there but I believe so. The compressor is still on the engine. but the pistons have been removed and are in the trunk in a box. INTERIOR:Entirely original and very. very nice. The seats are nearly perfect. with just a little cracking on the vinyl on the lower cushion on the driver side from flexing. The car had plastic seat covers when new and they were only removed later in its life as they had become brittle and yellowed. and were removed. As a result the seats were preserved very. very nicely with very nice leather and all seams intact. The dash pad has a couple spots on the sides with cracks but overall pretty nice and presentable and not saggy; it has been resprayed along with the pad on the glovebox (which only has a couple tiny light cracks). The headliner is faded with a couple holes. The carpet is very nice except for a hole worn through from heel wear - my plan was to take a piece from under the seat and graft it in from underneath at which point it would be undetectable but I did not get around to it. This is very easily done to preserve the otherwise very nice and original carpet. The door panels are very nice but there are some small imperfections most notably of which are some cracks in the driver side arm rest. This is known condition of functions:Wonderbar radio (original) and foot switch has been inspected and serviced professionally and function perfectlyAll lights work on outsideDash cluster lights do not work (probably headlight switch)All interior lights beside dash cluster (roof. radio. nbsp;and under dash)ALL gauges including fuel work properly with exception of speedometer (makes a light noise while driving)Power seat does not work (I have not investigated; could just be a fuse for all I know)Blower and heater work with no known leaksShift lever is a bit floppy (spring probably broken)Windshield washer and wipers to not work properly (wipers move slightly but too weak to function properly)TERMS:I have made the description as accurate and honest as possible. and am selling this car AS-IS. On May-03-15 at 15:07:35 PDT. seller added the following information: Received Archival Elite award at 2013 Buick Club of America national meet in South Bend. Indiana. Clock works but cannot be certain it runs constantly or is accurate. All power windows work; passenger rear probably needs greased as it needs just a bit of help the last inch or two going up.
