Hagerty condition #2 is defined as: ".....all (key features) will appear as excellent..."This 1986 GN matches a Hagerty assessment of #2....Excellent. This GN is an outstanding example of the Grand National at the peak of its development by General Motors/Buick.
OWNER HISTORY AND MILEAGE 6/19/86: GN delivered/transferred by a GM Certificate of Origin to Favata Buick in Mount Vernon, NY.
6/26/86; GN purchased at 5 miles on the odometer by the 1st owner who lived in New Rochelle, NY. 1st owner kept GN 17 years and 24,556miles.
8/28/03: GNsold/transferred to the 2nd owner in Telford, PAwith 24,556 miles. The 2nd owner kept the car in dry garage storage for a littleover a year, andaccumulated an additional 171 miles showing 24,727 miles on the odometer.
10/08/04: GN sold to the 3rd owner in Maryland with 24,727 miles. The car is titled in MD, and stored in dry garage storage in Stevensville,21666.GNcurrently shows 25,046 miles, having accumulated an additional 319 miles by the 3rd owner(seller).
The1st owner ran this GN to 24,556 miles before sale in 2003. Since then, the 2nd and 3rd owners accumulated 490 miles.Obviously, the car saw little use by the 2nd and 3rd owners who kept the car indry garagestorage. The car has been ‘exercised’ every 4 months, and oil changed once a year. This GN has been maintained in original condition.
LOW MILEAGE CERTIFICATION & DOCUMENTATION All related papers including the ownership history, and proof of mileage as shown in copies of state registration/titles will be provided to the winning bidder/new owner. This includes the original sales packet from Favata Buick containing dealer sales contract, original Certificate of Origin, Regal Owners Manual, and GM Maintenance Schedule. Copies of NY, PA, and MD titles documenting mileage at each transfer will be included and transferred to buyer with the car.
INTERIOR Factory new condition. Sagging headliner was replaced with correct fitted GM fabric. The vinyl dash cover is in mint un-cracked condition. Seat fabric and carpet are like new. Vinyl and plastic surfaces are in mint condition.
WEATHER SEALS, GLASS, AND T-TOPS The driver and passenger window seals, both doors, and multiple seals on each T-Top have been replaced with factory correct rubber. All glass is original. The T-tops fit and secure properly and do not rattle or leak. Passenger and driver door bottoms and sills are in excellent condition without rust/perforation sometimes seen in G body cars. Door bottom pictures were taken prior to installation of new seals in order to provide a complete view of the door bottoms.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT Recent through detailing completed and GN under-hood compartment is stock, correct, and outstanding in appearance, with a factory new and fresh look. The original black hood insulation is showing some age fading/discoloring, but is in very good condition.
UNDERBODY-FRAME-GAS TANK-TRUNK Very good condition but showing "normal"surface rust on the factory correct suspension and frame, which were unpainted at the factory. More importantly, there is no rust-through or rot on the frame, suspension, or body. The gas tank was drained, cleaned and inspected by the 3rd owner who found tank interior to be in mint condition. There are no modifications to the suspension or under-body. The original factory vinyl front spoiler dam, and air intake scoop and screen are intact, undamaged, and correctly installed. The trunk compartment is in factory original condition with the original space-saver spare, jack, and carpet intact. Factory T-Top covers are stored in the trunk.
EXTERIOR PAINT AND TRIM Good condition and complete. This car was a dealer single stage repaint after delivery years ago due to poor factory paint. Over the years this car has been buffed and polished to the point where the finish is mirror-like and the car presents itself very well. There is some subtle paint finish "shadowing" indicating minor pin-striping removed from factory paint before the repaint bythe original owner. This is virtually undetectable, unless pointed out, and cannot be seen in a photo. This car has never been in a collision. The bumper fillers have been refinished with the more durable fiberglass replacements. There are a few minor dings and some very small paint bubbling/cracks at inconspicuous points. Pictures in this listing attempt to cover the exterior completely for the benefit of bidders, and these pictures are accurate in reflecting the beauty of this car. Given the age of the paint, overall it looks very good; most is 9 or 10. However, it is over 25 years old and is not a “perfect 10”. Since “beauty is in the eye of the beholder”, an inspection appointment can be arranged by calling seller on 410-200-0142. This auction is a final sale, so inspection is recommended prior to bidding if the potential buyer has any doubt or question.
TIRES, MUFFLERS, BRAKES The tires were replaced with factory correct style(stock size/brand) by the 2nd owner and have run approximately 500 miles. The Power-master brake system has been updated per factory tech bulletins regarding defective hydro-pressure switch(replaced original black unit with revised gray) and defective iron pressure distribution block in the brake line(replaced with factory brass unit). Rotors, pads, shoes, drums are untouched originals. Cat converter, muffler, pipes are correct and in very good shape. DRIVEABILITY AND INSTRUMENTATION This car drives as brand new. The engine performs smoothly and powerfully, and the transmission shifts firmly. This GN does have analog instruments which have proven to be more reliable than the digital option, and preferred by GN owners. The AM/FM/Cassette radio works and sounds perfect, and the automatic antenna operates correctly. The rear window electric defroster operates per spec. Power windows and door locks operate per spec. All instruments are factory correct and operate as required. The heater a/c systems are factory correct in operation except that the a/c is not up to cooling spec. The a/c has not been put to normal use by the last two owners; therefore, it is believed a/c service by new owner will be needed.
