Buick Other 19380000 Description
1938 Buick Special 48 2-Door Touring SedanOne of only 14153 built! Missouri car that has survived the last several decades in a multi-car collection! Beautiful Sequoia Cream over Beige Mohair upholstery! Loaded with factory options and a magnificent runner!
As was expected of any company that wanted to stay competitive in the marketplace Buick’s 1938 cars debuted with an updated snout and more power on behalf of new domed pistons that upped the compression ratio to 6.15:1. Horsepower from the straight eight was now 107 torque up to 203 lb.-ft. Most of these were sedan but the convertible coupes phaetons and two door models proved to be the more exclusive choices. Calendar year production was 173905 cars.
We are very excited to offer this 1938 Buick Special Model 48 2-Door Touring Sedan! The car is now finished in an attractive 1939 shade of Sequoia Cream (originally 520 – Whistler Gray) over Beige mohair upholstery (originally 400 – Tan Bedford Cloth). Under the hood is the original sequence-correct 248ci Dynaflash Inline 8 (stamped 43555155) and mated to a three-speed floor-shift manual transmission. Features and options on the car include front and rear bumperettes front grille guard fog lights fender-mount turn signals Centerline AM radio Master heater Special Model 48-specific Ivory plastic steering wheel with full horn ring (currently covered with brand new brown leather wrap) windshield defroster and more! The car rides on Brown steel wheels with Buick hubcaps and trim rings wrapped in P225/70R16 Goodyear Eagle LS wide whitewall radial tires!
The previous Missouri owner purchased the car from a Kansas City dealer at the beginning of the millennium who found this vehicle parked in sunny California where it was beautifully preserved. It has been regularly driven and maintained since his acquisition. Seeing the car’s potential we spent a fair amount of time detailing the car and couldn’t be more excited about the results! The paint and chrome both look much newer than you would expect for a 20+ year old restoration and the interior is similarly quite stunning in person. The seats are in great shape as are all moldings trim pieces and simulated wood. Mechanically the car is also a pleasure to drive. Thus far in its stay we have had the pleasure of putting a combination of city and highway miles on the car and the car is a fantastic runner whether around town or at 55 miles per hour down the highway. Everything on the car works: all interior and exterior lights heater and defrost blower motors radio vacuum wipers and added turn signals. With the attention to detail we are sure this Buick will make its next owner very happy both for its cosmetics but also its running capacity. This car represents one of one 14153 Special 48s built and likely a fraction in existence today! Included with the car is a set of 1938 California yellow plates spare tire with wrench/tool/jack a 1938 shop manual and a host of spare parts and trim pieces! This exquisite Model 48 should not be overlooked by Buick enthusiasts as it is arguably one of the finest examples! We would welcome any additional questions and look forward to your call! Thanks for looking!
