Buick Roadmaster 1947 Description
One owner, 90% original 1947 Buick Roadmaster Sedan. All mechanical numbers matching. Purchased brand new by grandfather, in 1947, when he was 15, owned ever since. $74,000 original miles. Fully restored in 2005, with over $100,000 spent. Driven occasionally since. Grandpa passed in February 2016, and I am digging through his papers for the original paperwork; however, willing to provide a notorized document to certify one-owner status. If the papers still exist, I will gladly provide copies. Some modifications done in restoration which include the following:1) Mustang II front clip with disc brake upgrade. Stops well...or at least as well as can be expected with 6,000 pounds behind them!2) Power stearing assist.3) 12 Volt conversion4) Porsche bolt grey leather5) Wilton wool carpets6) woodgrain by Bob Kennedy of Whittier, CA (original to the era, but not the car)7) Stereo/CD system with bass8) Vintage Air condition system9) Limosine glass tint10) electric fan added11) electric starter added12) newer whitewall tires with 15 inch rims.
Nearly all (not exagerating when I say all but two pieces) pot metal chrome bits on the car are original to the car. No rust of any kind. All 1940s plastic parts are original to the car, and were redipped in restoration. Original motor and transmission still in car and in excellent working order. Transmission shifts easily and as smothly as a non synchromesh trans can. Trans easily converted to a Dynaflow or more modern trans. If you are looking for a unique project, Art Morrison makes a long-wheelbase chassis that will fit perfectly under this car, add a modern V8, and you have yourself an American Rolls-Royce. (See the Icon Derelict 1948 Buick project for ideas of what to do with this thing. I'd do it if I had the money!) Sadly, this beloved family heirloom requires storage space I no longer have.
Flaws in the car are as follows: some pit marks on the paint, and some paint pealing and swirlled on some parts. Repairable, but obvious. Trim pannel with woodgrain has dent from careless mechanic and a smudge on paint. I am getting quotes on repair. Armrest in rear passenger side has adhesive bleed through. Also getting quotes for repair. Just to note, in the photos there is a thin layer of dust on the black paint and interior. That has since been washed and waxed off. If you require a photo showing post wash, please ask.
This is a fantastic car, with tremendous potential. Returning the car to an original condition is not too difficult. Great basis for a unique, and very usable restomod. Looking for a good home for this well loved car. Shipping is responsibility of buyer. I cannot accept payment plans, and trades with vehicles only considered on a case by case basis.
