[isdntekvideo] 1968 BUICK GS 400 CONVERTIBLEUp for auction is this all original, all matching numbers true Gran Sport that has been stored inside for the last 37 years. We acquired it last Fall from the previous owner who bought it in 1969. The VIN # is 44667 8Z110188 which is correct for the GS 400 Convertible. There were 2454 of this model produced. The 400 CID (6.6L) engine for these cars came with a Rochester Quadrijet carburetor, 10.25 to 1 compression, dual exhaust and 5 mains in a cast iron block. The factory rated this power plant at 340 HP and 440 ft/lbs Torque. The engine is backed with a SuperTurbine HT 400 transmission which was revered by some as the best automatic transmission ever. The steering is power assisted but the brakes are not. We have $4500 in recent receipts for repairs to make this survivor roadworthy.

Although there is quite a bit of surface rust and pitting the vehicle is rock solid with no evidence of ever being damaged. The panel lines are all very straight and the doors, hood and trunk all close perfectly. There is no sag in the doors. The glass is in excellent condition. The rubber moldings are soft and still feel nice to the touch. The vinyl interior features bucket seats and a center console with floor shifter. The condition is very nice and the dash pad looks to be perfect. The interior is 100% original and the OEM seatbelts are still in place. The carpets and the door panels still look very good but not perfect. The convertible top is the original one and probably should be replaced. The convertible boot is still in very nice shape. The car starts instantly and drives straight and runs quiet. We noticed a slight lifter tap on brief occasions and sometimes a hesitation on acceleration -probably from sitting for long periods of time. The OEM radio is in place but is not currently working.
The heater core has been by-passed for some reason...possibly a bad heater core, we do not know why it was done.
This car is as original as can possibly be…it is solid as a rock and has never been apart. Please view our lengthy video in which we have endeavored to show every salient aspect of this great survivor from 1968 as well as point out any blemishes. We welcome inspection by any interested bidder or their representative. We will also work with your shipper to facilitate pick up of the vehicle. The car is currently garaged in Glassport PA 15045 which is adjacent to McKeesport in the Pittsburgh metropolitan area. There is a clear California title ready to transfer to the next owner. This is a great opportunity to obtain a rare and desirable unmolested classic that needs very little become a true show car.
