Buick Special 1961 Description
I want to start off by asking you to please call forhonest answers BEFORE you bid. Or better yet, come by and look at the vehicle or have someone inspect it for you. I do the best I can describing my vehicles and I include very good pictures that can be expanded. I do this to try and avoid any misunderstandings. It is impossible to list every little item on a vehicle that may or may not beimportant to a buyer. Thanks. Also, please read thepayment section carefully. Iwill not vary off of what isexplained there. Cashiers checks may have hold put on them by my bank. My bank will give me a letter of how long the hold will be. I will forward a copy of the letter to you. The length of hold depends on the bank that it is sent from. Some smaller banks cantake up to 10 business days. The car will not leave here until my banksays the check has cleared. No exceptions. That is why I like wire transfers and cash.
This is an original storage find. Car only has 52822 miles on it.
Body: Very solid with a few minor rust spots. Floor and trunk pans are rust free. Bottom of doors and rocker panels are rust free. The following are the rust spots. 1) Verysmall spot above right front headlight. 2) Very small spots behind each rear wheel well. 3) Small area on rear panel under the right side tail light, down low. 4) Two largerspots bottom of both front fenders. That is all I can find. None of the rust spots would be hard to fix and none of them are structural. There are various dents and dings on this car and it will need paint if you want to make it show quality. The chrome and stainless steel trim is all in good driver quality. I wouldn't re-chromeanything unless, once again, if you want a show car. The bad news on the body is listed above. The good news is that it is all original and solid so you will know exactly what you are getting and what repairs will be needed. There are nohidden issues or bondo that I can see.
Drive line: The 215 all aluminum V-8 engine starts right up and makes no questionable noises. The tuneup parts look to be very old, and it stutters a bit under acceleration, so I would plan on doing a complete tune up on her. The 2 speed transmission shifts fine. The rear end makes no funny noises.
Interior: It is in very good condition considering the age. Seat have no rips or tears. Headliner is good. Theoriginal rubber floor covering is just so so. The dash pad has 3 cracks in it. The dash itself and the steering wheel are in very good shape. Wipers and radio work fine. Lights and heater controls work fine. Windows roll up and down fine.
Chassis: Front end seems very tight. Brake pedal seems to be a little hard to push down, but it stops fine. Not much play in it. Maybe just the way the manual brakes are? The tires are original bias ply tires from years ago. I would plan on replacing them. The exhaust is fine but for some reason, there are extra exhaust pipes in the trunk, along withsome other spare parts, the bumper jack, and 2 mounted snow tires.
All in all, this would be a car that could bedriven just the way it is with a fewmaintenance improvements, or restored without much effort.
I know I am forgetting something here, so call forquestions and more details.
I have a clear Missouri title that is in my name and it matches the VIN tag.
I will not give out my reserve price. Please do not ask.
NO TRADES, PLEASE DO ASK ASK.
You can make a reasonable offer if you wish, but I will not end the listing once the auction hits thereasonable reserve price.
Now for the business end. I encourage you, or someone you trust or hire, to come by and check out the vehicle in person. I will refund your deposit if the vehicle does not match the abovedescription. The vehicle does not leave here until all funds clear my bank. Bank and cashiers checks can take up to 10 business days. My bank will give me a letter stating the date when the check will clear. I will forward a copy of the letter to you. Bank transfers can take up to 2 days depending on what time of the day it is initiated on your end. Again, my bank will let me know when it clears. Cash is great if picking it up in person.
