Cadillac Seville 1989 Description
Up for sale I have a 1989 Cadillac Seville STS. This was the first generation of STS vehicles and were produced in a very limited number approx 8400 vehicles were produced over the course of 4 years from 88-91. The first 1988 STS's were custom built in June 1988 by Cars and Concepts and announced at the 1988 Detroit Grand Prix. These were available to VIP's within General Motors, he Cadillac Division, ome major shareholders and a short list of dignitaries. A special label was affixed to the lower corner of the driver-side front door by Cars and Concepts identifying it as one of the original STS's. The first 1989 STS's were leftovers from the Cars & Concepts run of the 1988 production year and had the special sticker located on the lower part on the inside of the driver's door. These were produced prior to December 1988 for the 1989 production year and are very rare. The last 6 digits of these VIN numbers would be below 808000. As with the 1988 model, special 3.25" x 2" black/silver chrome label was affixed to the lower inside area of the driver-side front door by Cars and Concepts identifying it as one of the original STS's As of 2014, he survivability rate* of this 1989 model is at about 3% (approximately 57 remaining) per the NHTSA and Broxterman Auto Survivability Rate Chart - BASRC). This STS is one of the leftover Cars & Concepts vehicles. Current millage on the car is just over 169,000 It has the strong 4.5L motor with a Clean MA Title here is a comprehensive list of what has been replaced and what the vehicle still needs: Pro’s: The following parts have been replaced over the last 2 years of ownership: Radiator Alternator Battery Starter Air Pump Front and rear struts Plugs, ires Driver’s Seat was swapped out with a better looking unit Oil changes every 3000 miles like clockwork Front end alignment done within the last 60 days Currently has a custom audio system including an eclipse cd player custom door pods with 4 ½” eclipse component speakers, ear speakers are 5 ¼” eclipse components powered by a 4 channel alpine amp located in the trunk. There is also an aux input jack in the center console for mp3 players. Front Tires are at 8/32’s rear tires are at 4/32’s and should look to be replaced soon Car was driven every day (500 plus miles a week) up until the beginning of November when the registration expired. There is no rust on the body and very, ery little on the undercarriage. The exhaust, rake lines etc are all very clean. Con’s: Rear drivers side brake isn’t working I believe the valve that splits the fluid in the rear is bad I have driven it this way for the last 2 years still stops fine but it should be fixed. If you apply the brake normally it stops fine if you panic stop there feals like a slight backpressure in the pedal for 1/8 of a sec before it engages but it does stop quickly. Headliner is drooping in the back but it’s pulled tight and doesn’t effect visability Sunroof does not work not sure why it is closed and has no leaks Arm rest between the back seats is loose Cruise control stopped working about 4 months ago not sure why other power controls work Power antenna for the stereo is broken Motor does have a minor oil leak from around the oil cooler lines it uses approx 1 quart of oil over a 3000 mile span. Starter was replaced about 4 months ago but I believe it has a loose ground somewhere. On occasions it will click once or twice before starting it always starts but sometimes you have to turn the key a couple times for it to start up. Air conditioning does not work – there is a seal leak somewhere in the system causing it to lose r-34a.Check engine light comes on when the vehicle is started in the cold for an idle speed controller the controller works and if you turn the car off when the car is warmed up the light will disappear. Car has an accident past when I purchased the car it had a clean Massachusetts title and still does however after talking with my insurance company there is a record of the vehicle being totaled back when it was owned by a gentleman in Idaho over 10 years ago. There is also an Idaho repair placard located inside the driver’s door frame. Additionally I had a slight incident with a deer last November. The hood has been replaced along with the front grill and driver’s side headlight. There is also minor damage to the front driver’s fender that can be seen in one of the attached pictures. The hood was replaced with a white unit as it was the only STS hood that was clean and within a reasonable driving distance. I realize this list may be a bit long but it is my intent to disclose everything I know about the vehicle so that buyers can make an informed decision and as was stated this vehicle has been used every day for the last 2 years with very little downtime. In summary this is a rare vehicle with a bit of a checkered past that needs a little work but would make a good daily driver I will be including lots of pictures and if you’d like one of a different part of the car let me know. Vehicle is sold as is I do not guarantee that this vehicle will pass a state inspection, he vehicle is being bought / sold for parts. I relinquish any responsibility for the vehicle once the title has been signed over. I have documented all known defects to provide potential buyers with as much information as possible. I will not ship the vehicle It is up to potential buyers to pay for any shipping.
