Cadillac Allante 1987 Description
One of the nicest convertibles I have ever owned or driven. Designed and built to compete against Mercedes, Jaguar and other luxury convertibles from Europe. Cost new $54.700.00 plus a 10% luxury surcharge or $60,170.00 in 1987. The value in today's dollar buying power would be $127,763.00 Platform, drive train, mechanicals are an Eldorado shortened chassis. The body coach work, design & fabrication as by Pinninferina in Turin, Italy. They produce most of Ferrari's bodies. The Recaro (Austria) leather seats I just had reupholstered in OEM leather. Have a full set of OEM factory 15" rims and tires. New after market 17" spoked Mag wheels with michelin MSM radials with the correct size tires as not to change the factory ratios (found on Tire Rack) I just pulled the hardtop off and although the top pull down motor works ( I bought a good working one & replaced) the plastic cover under the top and in the bottom of the top well ( plastic??) has shattered where the emergency release cables connect. I rebuilt it in metal and it still failed. Found one in California and waiting for price. No rust, bondo or accidents other then a replaced front bumper apron. Bose cassette radio has a problem, needs attention or a modern Blue tooth radio in the glove box. Top may be original, but is fully working. Needs pressure wash . Has two minor 2" chafe marks from the top well fiberglass cover as I see many do. This is still nice 30 year old car at a very fair price.
