Cadillac Brougham 1960 Description

One of the rarest Cadillacs ever produced the 1960 Brougham is a unique car that was never to be repeated again by Cadillac. General Motors contracted with Pininfarina of Turin Italy to build 200 very special Brougham models over the two model years of 1959-1960, with 99 of those being 1959's and 101 being built for 1960. This is car body #77 of the final run 101 cars. Cadillac Motor Car shipped completed chassis with drivetrain to Italy to have a full custom body and specially trimmed interior assembled resulting in the most expensive new model Cadillac to date with a retail price in 1960 of over $13,000. Every car was fully optioned including the Eldorado 390 Cubic inch motor with Tri-Power carburetor rated at 365 Horsepower. The customer chose exterior color and an interior in full leather or Brocade Cloth again various colors. The current Cadillac styling of the Era was retained but very little of the body or trim elements are the same as a production like Cadillac. Window glass, exterior trim, lamps and a very special body panels were all custom made in Italy resulting in a very special Coachbuilt car. A quick internet search of 1959-1960 Cadillac Eldorado Broughams will give you much detail of these special cars. The car we are offering here is a very unmolested original car that is complete and running. Still finished in its original color of Black, the car was overall repainted one time around 1979 to the best of our knowledge. The interior and fully upholstered trunk compartment is 100% original and amazingly very nice with the exception of leather wear on the left front seat bolster. Having always been garaged, the car has a near perfect original padded dash and the Brougham specific wool headliner is mint condition. Even the original Mouton Carpeting is quite nice and the fully trimmed trunk compartment is like new. The spare tire is in place and original tools are still lodged in their original compartment, again unique to the Brougham. The body integrity is very good with good fitting panels and no evidence of ever having collision damage. All glass is excellent except for a cracked left front door glass, easily replaced being flat glass. One of the four taillamp lenses is an incorrect replacement and one "Brougham" emblems from the left quarter panel is missing. Other than that the car is totally complete as delivered including the specialized wheel covers. Please note: We are clearly disclosing the rust damage that is evident in both rocker panels to the inside and extending somewhat into the outermost floor panel sections. There is also rust thru at the rear quarter panel Dropdowns from trunk floor to lower rear quarters. While not severe, this is damage that will need attention. Also please note that the 30 plus year old repaint is failing in numerous areas and is not as good as photos depict. In our opinion, the car needs the disclosed rust repair completed and refinished overall. The car runs very well and can be driven as-is but the air suspension system is troublesome and needs restoration. It does in fact function properly but will not hold ride height for very long when engine compressor is not running. All electricals work, even the unique retracting quarter windows. The air conditioning is intact but not presently operating. Tires are very old and need to be replaced. The car does have the original motor with Tri-Power Carburation and special air-ride air cleaner all intact. This ultra rare Cadillac is a great candidate for a partial or complete restoration to be a fantastic car. The originality and compete condition of the car are fundamental.
