Cadillac Other 1957 Description

1957 Cadillac Series 62 Sedan de Ville. This is an all original one family car that was bought at the same dealership in Memphis, N where Elvis bought his Caddys. I have copies of the two other titles tracing complete ownership. The car was bought new from by great uncle then sat indoors at the family car dealership until it was brought to Colorado in February 2015. The car is all original with only 72K miles. This car is the ultimate platform for anyone looking to do a restoration or could just use a little sprucing for a daily driver. I do have an eBay for my business that this car is being sold through, owever this is a personal item. As I said, have the paperwork trail to prove this. Let’s get into the details:

Body - The body is solid and rust and Bondo free. The only minor rust is around the rear window trim. The chrome is in very decent shape for its age. There are a few pieces that are damaged (see photos) but the bumpers are straight and shiny. There us some slight surface rust where the exhaust exits on each side.

Underside – The underside is healthy and rust free. The frame is in great shape and the floor pans are compete with no holes. It has the factory dual exhaust that is leak free although a couple of the hangers are broken. A new 20 gallon undercoated fuel tank was installed at the beginning of this year. This an OEM tank that fits just like the original.

Trunk – No rust in the trunk. Spare, ack, nd all equipment is there. I did remove the carpet because it was in rough shape.

Interior – Ready for this? The original owner put clear plastic covers over the bench seat when he bought it. These covers where redone in the 70s and are still. The clothe seats are original, orgeous, nd ready to be enjoyed again. Headliner is great. Power seat works. There is some warping on the passenger side of the dash. All knobs, witches, nd levers are there and work.

A/C – Car has factory air conditioning. Blower blows but the system needs to be recharged. I have new belts for it that will be included in the sale.

Windows – All the power windows work. The two rear need some assistance for the last two inches when being raised. The two cigarette (triangle) windows open and close with ease. The windshield has a 10” crack in the lower middle.

Wheels / Tires – New tires and all four hubcaps are in good shape. Front wheel bearing seals were just replaced in June and bearings were checked and repacked with grease.

Brakes – Just rebuilt the complete brake system with a kit from Kanter. The only thing not installed is the rubber hose that goes from the body to the rear axle. Kanter sent me the wrong one. They eventually mailed me the correct item and it will be included with the sale of the car. The brake booster needs to be rebuilt and is currently bypassed. Car stops fine but you just have to give the pedal a good push.

Engine – 365 ci V8 is there and purrs like a kitten. Engine was recently flushed out twice with kerosene. I filled it then let it idle for ten minutes each time. After that a new Fram filter was installed and it was filled with Shell Rotella T 15w-40 oil. New AC Declo plugs were installed. Car has new water pump and radiator. Carb was just rebuilt and a Carter electric fuel pump was installed. Newer battery. Power steering works great.

Transmission – This Caddy has the four speed Hydromatic automatic transmission. The car shifts through all the gears smoothly when driving. No clunks or jarring. There is a leak from the front seal. At first I was wondering if it was a crack in the torque convertor but as it only really leaks when the car is cold and has been sitting for a while. Once it heats up the seal swells and the leak stops. If someone is looking to just turn this into a daily driver this should be addressed. I have been driving this and closely monitoring the fluid level. It does not lose much but I needed to disclose this issue.

Videos of the car can been seen on YouTube:
