Cadillac Eldorado 1953 Description
The 1953 Cadillac Eldorado was one of the most glorious automobiles ever produced by the General Motors Corporation. It was the first production Cadillac to carry a name that would continue to mean the finest American luxury for generations to come. The body was hand tooled, and radically reshaped, from the Series 62 Convertible of the same year at the Fleetwood Body/Cadillac Clark Street Assembly in Detroit, MI. It had the first wrap-around windshield, Jaguar-like dips in the doors, and an acrylic "orlon" fabric top that disappeared neatly behind a metal boot when lowered. The original Eldorado has gone down in history as the most unique and rarest of the many cars to carry the famous name, and it remains among the most desired of all post-war Cadillacs. The first production Eldorado literally rolled out with the President of the United States in the backseat, as Dwight Eisenhower used it for his first inaugural parade in 1953. The 1953 Cadillac Eldorado offered here has had a complete body-off, nut and bolt restoration. The model number is 365 out of a total of 532 originally produced. The car was rebuilt from the ground up, using as many original parts as possible. It was completely disassembled, and the body and frame taken down to bare metal. The result is a gorgeous automobile that would be the centrepiece of any show or collection. The car has been painted in the original azure blue, with the matching azure blue and white interior. The interior leather was provided by Jenkins Interiors and is a perfect match. The chrome and stainless parts have been re-plated and buffed to a stunning sheen by one of the world's best chrome shops. The powertrain has been completely rebuilt and this car runs just like it did in 1953. It is ready for display and no true classic car collection is complete without one. The car is riding on original restored, not reproduction, Kelsey Hayes wire wheels, and it has a correct white acrylic orlon fabric top.
