Cadillac Fleetwood 1956 Description
Beautiful 1956 Cadillac Sixty Special finished in Dark Blue Metallic with Silver Brocade Seating. 365ci/285hp V8 Engine. Hydra-Matic Automatic Transmission. Power Steering, Power Windows, Power Seat, Signal-Seeking AM Radio, Power Antenna, Remote Trunk Release. This beautiful example showcases an older high quality restoration. The car is exceptionally nice throughout. Body panels are extremely straight with excellent fit and finish, and the brightwork is striking, what an unforgettable design the 1956 Cadillac is. The 1956 model year was the end of an era, of sorts, for Cadillac as the marque's trademark P-38 inspired tail fins on the rear of most Cadillacs made one final appearance. This is your opportunity to own a rare and beautiful 1956 Cadillac Series Sixty Special that has been cared for and kept in dry conditions. It starts right up, runs smooth and quiet, and glides straight down the road. This 60 Special has lived a pampered life, and it shows throughout the body and especially underneath. The flooring and framework are exceptionally nice and solid throughout. The trunk is clean and detailed. The interior is absolutely beautiful. Leather wraps the dash and door panels. The grey leather compliments perfectly with the soft silver brocade seating inserts. The intricate original bright work is in beautiful condition. The dash features the classic Cadillac style and grace. The original AM signal-seeker radio is still in place as is the gauge cluster. Under the hood is the "new" for '56 365 c.i. 4bbl V8. This powerplant was now rated at 285 horsepower and mated with a much improved for '56 Hydra-Matic automatic transmission. This example runs and drives well. It has been well-cared for mechanically. The engine bay is very clean and correct.
Cadillac churned out 17,000 of the big six-passenger sedans in 1956, which carried new egg-crate type grilles and subtly different trim arrangements than the previous versions. A thin chrome strip ran along the top of the rear fenders with fat chrome spears pointed forward on the sides of the rear flanks. Prominent oval exhaust ports exit out of the upper corners of the rear bumper.
