Cadillac Other 1959 Description
1959 Cadillac Ambulance Project Car. This is a good solid rust free project car. The body is solid and complete and all the rust repair has been done on the car. The body is ready to be sanded primed the panels aligned and then painted. The rear interior is a blank canvas for you to work with. Turn it into a limo outfit it for your business or build it back into an ambulance. Exceptionally rare car. Very few ambulances were made in 1959 by Miller Meteor even fewer were the hightop versions. These are not available for sale very often and most examples are in need of extensive and expensive rust repairs. The rear interior of the car was already removed when I purchased the car. It was the bare metal floor that you see in the photos. I only have door panels and some trim panels for the back of the ambulance. I do not have the ambulance floor or any of the cabinets or ambulance specific hardware from the back of the car. The previous owners were going to convert the car into a limo so they removed the ambulance floor and cabinets and I can only assume that they disposed of all of those parts years ago. The car is sitting on 4 correct commercial chassis wheels which are extra heavy duty and designed for the ambulances. (These wheels are different from a stock Cadillac wheel and are generally hard to find as they were ONLY used on ambulances hearses and Limos.)The engine transmission and suspension are original to the car and should be numbers matching. (I have not dug around under the car to verify the numbers but it should all be original) The front compartment of the car is all there dashboard seat gauges etc. -The rocker panels were badly rusted the entire length of the car when I bought it so I had brand new rockers fabricated for both sides of the car. (The rockers are roughly 18' long on each side. It was a massive project to repair.) There is a light layer of surface rust but that will all go away when the car is sanded and primed for paint. There are no weak spots or rust through in the rockers its all brand new metal in there. I live in the desert so light surface rust is about all we ever get around here and the car has been stored inside since I got it back from the shop that did the metal work for me.-The lower rear fenders where the fender skirts mount were also completely rusted away they have been properly repaired and the fender skirts are present and in primer as well. -The 4 side doors were rusty in the door bottoms all have been repaired properly and are all finished and in primer. -The front fenders were repaired properly with new metal and are finished and also in primer.-Rear passenger fender still needs very light finish smoothing as there are still a few light creases in the metal from damage prior to my purchase.-The interior in the front is all present and complete. (The front seat leather is getting brittle in spots but its there and original to the car so you have it for a pattern if you want to reproduce the proper materials and patterns. Dash pad is dry and brittle but reproductions are available) -Floor pans are brand new solid and in primer already.-The Glass is all in good condition including the curved glass windows in the rear of the car. (The curved glass in the back quarters is actually harder to find then the windshields are) -The windshield has one crack that runs across the top in the tinted portion. It doesn't leak but its noticeable in the tinted band which is why I tracked down a replacement windshield which is included with the car. -I have red bulbs and the chrome trim for all 4 tunnel lights in the roof.-The car has all 4 of the commercial wheels with the correct year Cadillac hubcaps. Tires are decent and hold air but they are older tires. Being in the desert tires dry out here more frequently than other parts of the country.-I have the interior trim door panels hardware and assorted parts and pieces. Almost all of the parts were individually labelled by the shop on the part itself as to where it goes on/in the car.-The car was running when I started the restoration project but it has been in dry storage for a number of years so it should be gone through as part of finishing the restoration.-The factory rear step bumper is still on the car and in good shape.-Front bumper chrome and grille is in good shape.-Exterior chrome trim is in good shape.-Chrome rocker trim is present and in good shape.-Clear title. What you see is what you get. :) If you have additional questions please ask. This is your opportunity to grab a rust free '59 M-M hightop ambulance to finish any way you'd like. It is a project car but it is not a cheap project car. My reserve is set well below what I have invested in the car already. I've owned this car for over 17 years and its currently in indoor storage.Shipping arrangements are the buyers responsibility.
