1938 Cadillac Seies-65 With Dual Side-Mounts
In 1938 the Series 65 had a new front end style featuring a massive vertical cellular grille, three sets of horizontal bars on the hood sides, alligator hood, and headlights on the filler space between the fenders and the hood. Optional side mount covers were hinged to the fenders. Quarter windows were of sliding rather than hinged construction. The rear of the body had rounder corners and lines blended more smoothly. Trunks had more of an appearance of being an integral part of the body. Bodies were all made of steel except for the wooden main sills. New chassis details included a column gear shift, horns just behind the grille, battery under the right hand side of the hood, transverse muffler just behind the fuel tank, wheels by a different manufacturer, "Synchro-Flex" flywheel, hypoid rear axle, and the deletion of the oil filter.
I bought this beautiful 1938 Cadillac 65-Series Short Version from a collector in Florida who loved big luxury cars and had a few Cadillac’s.
Mechanical
This is a very rare vehicle for the year with the dual mounts, and with original 56,492 original miles. The odometer reading is missing from the title because of the age of the car, and that’s why it says exempt. The car runs and drives just fine. The engine is in a great condition, transmission shifts very well through the gears, and the clutch feels really good. It drives just like a ‘38 Cadi should. The car has been kept well and has been featuring in numerous parades. It runs and drives just fine; check out the video.
Exterior
All the glass is in a good condition. If you look at the undercarriage you will see that it’s in a fine condition. The car has beautiful black paint, which nicely suits the car. I think this is the original color combination that it came with. The chromes, paint, and the grill are very distinguishable. Well, it has some flaws, which are only visible at a real close distance, so nothing major. This is a driver’s quality car.
Interior
Interior is all there; dash is complete, all gauges work. Overall, it’s a very original vehicle with low miles.
This is a truly great price for this 65-Series. It is really a rare car.
