Cadillac DeVille 1966 Description
My father purchased this car from an older woman he knows. It had been parked since 1993 and she was ready to get rid of it. We trailered it home and were able to get it running easily. The fuel had been drained before being parked so some new fuel, battery, nd fresh oil was all it needed to run. We covered the whole process on BarnFinds.com and links to the articles can be found below. It blows some black smoke on startup, ut it might still be burning the Marvel Mystery oil we put into the cylinders. As with any old car that has been parked for a long period of time, t would be wise to rebuild the carb and replace the consumables (plugs, ires, oses, ires, tc.). The brakes work, ut need gone through too before it can be driven much. Plan on replacing the master cylinder and hoses. The exterior has a few dents and scratches acquired over the years, ut we couldn't find any rot. The paint was dry, ut looks decent now after a quick polish. The chrome looks good too and an extra set of rear side trim is included to replace the dented pieces. The interior is dusty, ut in excellent condition. The dash has a couple of cracks and a few seams have separated, ut everything is original and should look like new after a deep cleaning. The front seats had covers and the rear still has a factory plastic cover in place. The radio works and the power antenna goes up and down. The power seat works and the steering wheel tilts and telescopes. Special lights come on the sides when you turn the blinkers on so you can see better when turning at night. The cruise control is disconnected under the hood so we dont know if it works. The air conditioning kicks on when it gets really hot outside, ut not like it should so I assume that the vacuum lines will need gone through and perhaps a sensor cleaned or replaced? At least it does turn on though so there is some hope. The windows on the driver's side go up and down with ease and the passenger's side works intermittently. The transmission shifts smoothly and seems to be functioning as it should. We have had this car up to 55 mph with no problem. It was quite and comfortable inside. The trunk is full of spare parts and extra wheels. Buying a car online can be difficult, o I have tried to mention all the flaws. That doesn't mean this is a bad car though. I think that with a little work and money, he next owner could have a reliable and comfortable cruiser. We have set the reserve at a reasonable amount. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have.
