The first owner bought it new, and had it until 4/4/2015 when the second owner got it with visions of greatness. We all know the original 454 was underpowered from the factory, and as much as the 2nd owner LOVED the look, feel, and style of the truck, the anemic power left him wanting more. So in June of 2015, the decision was made to give the then 64K mile truck a mini-makeover, and a project was started! The end result is what you see in the 100 photos below, and it is nothing short of AMAZING! This 454SS is a clean title, clean CarFax, and clean AutoCheck vehicle that has never been in an accident. The original engine was pulled from the truck and sold, and the selection of parts to create the needed horsepower was started. With about 3,000 proven miles since completion, the motor has already had two full fluid services, and a break-in check performed. It is ready to roll, and needs nothing. Under the hood looks as nice as the exterior of the truck, and is clean, neat, and well laid out. There is a custom fit aluminum 4-core radiator installed that keeps things at a steady 186 degrees no matter what. In the Florida heat with the A/C on high and sitting in traffic, the truck will STAY at 186. It’s awesome. It sounds AMAZING, and has a wicked rumble at idle, a healthy bark on throttle blips, and a banshee–like scream under full acceleration. Everyone can hear it coming a mile away, but since the mufflers are just behind the cab, and the exhaust exits out the rear, it isn’t annoying inside the cab. Power is instantaneous and brutal. It has a dyno tested, 528hp at 5823.5 RPM, and a MASSIVE 668 ft lbs of torque at 5410 RPM!!!!!!! It is INSANE, and just wants to leap out from under you whenever you hit the go pedal. Off the line, it surges through the gears in a hurry, and gets you up to warp speed in seconds! A mild shift kit with 3,000rpm stall was added to the MX1 transmission during the rebuild by JW with a street/strip valve body, deeper pan, high flow filter, and performance clutches. With the factory 3.73 gearing, the truck is happy in that 60-70mph sweet spot, so don’t expect to go across the Country at 95mph unless you swap gears! It will run all day 70 though, and not complain one bit as long as you are feeding it 97 or 100 octane fuel to satiate the 11:1 compression motors needs. In town is where it is the most fun though, as anything up to 50 mph feels like all the torque it has is right under your foot! You can whip out to pass someone at 40 and just stick it and the truck will respond with all its might to make short work of slower traffic! It takes a minute to get used to not leaving the line hard, as even a medium touch on the pedal from a red light will leave a streak of rubber in your wake. Power train is fault free at this time, and shows no signs of any issues or concerns. It has not leaked, wept, or marked its territory once since I bought it, and I have had the pleasure of putting about 150 miles on it without any issues, concerns, or funny business. We performed a full safety check on it, and it needed NOTHING at all. Fluids are clean and full, all the lights, wipers, horn, and electrical items work like they should, and there are no known issues with the truck at this time. While the truck was partially disassembled, the chassis was modified with a BellTECH 5/7 drop kit, DJM CalMax tubular control arms, drop springs, BellTECH lowering shocks, and a rear flip kit with small notch to insure clearance and a factory quality ride with NO tire rubbing front or rear! It rides fantastic, and great pains were taken to make sure alignment, caster, and camber adjustments were spot on, with no odd tire wear, no tracking issues, no vibration, no wander, and no pulling. It drives as good as it would have when new. A variety of suspension and brake components were upgraded at this time as well, and show just about 3,000 miles of use and wear since completed. Braking is firm and positive, with no pulling, wander, or excessive modulation to be found. The factory original A/C system was upgraded to R134A, and blows VERY cold. The fan settings work in all positions, and the digital display controls are in perfect order with full functionality from AIR to DEFROST. The truck rides on factory 15” wheels that are in exceptional condition, and are wrapped in practically new Cooper Cobra RADIAL G/T tires size P275/60R15 all the way around with just about 3,000 miles on them. The previous owner was going for a cleaner look, so he elected to remove the side molding trim, and installed a solid front chin spoiler, although the fog lamps are still able to be installed if you want to get the factory spoiler down the road. He also replaced the bulky rear sliding window with a clean and seamless one-piece rear window. It all works together to make a MUCH cleaner looking truck, that is one of a kind. All of the glass is clean, damage free, and is tinted to the maximum legal limit here in Florida. The factory hood was ditched in favor of a GOODMARK all-steel cowl induction hood with vented opening that uses the factory hardware and looks AMAZING on the truck! It opens and closes perfectly, and has better gaps and panel fit than the factory did when it was made!!!! The rest of the body is all original GM steel and it is in impeccable condition with excellent fit and finish all around, and less than a handful of truly minuscule little blemishes like stone chips which are all under a few millimeters in size. NO dents, NO damage, NO prior repair, NO rust, NO bubbling, NO peeling, NO flaking, NO thin spots, NO thick spots, NO clear coat issues, NO problems. It is BEAUTIFUL. Deep, rich, glossy, and wet looking from every angle, and I even threw in a pic of my ugly mug giving you the peace sign to show you how clear it is. All of the lights front and back are new, and they all work perfectly. Bumpers are both clean, undamaged, and basically fault free. The inside of the bed is like new, and is cleaner than most cars exteriors! It is NOT covered up by rhino lining, or other sprays, and is not scratched or beat up either. It looks spectacular! Open the tail gate and it is so clean you won’t believe it. NO ISSUES. The truck has a killer stance, and looks fast just sitting still. Open the doors, and the 100% stock interior shows you that the 67,000 miles on the truck were carefully put on by the previous owners. There is NO sign of damage or disrepair, and everything looks amazing and works like it should. Dash is clean, neat, and crack free. All of the gauges work like they should, and appear to be calibrated and correct. The speedometer check out to a GPS unit and is less than 1 mph off actual, which is amazing on an older truck! Factory DELCO radio with AM/FM/Cassette works like it should, and all the lights and corresponding features work too, including the equalizer! Factory fog lamp switch is still on the dash, and the wiring is in place with the lights in case you wish to get the air spoiler with the fog lamps again. Seals, weather strip, and rubber components throughout the truck are in exceptional condition, soft, and have NO cracks or brittle spots. Seats are in amazing shape, and are stain-free, clean, and have NO rips, tears, seam pulls or issues. They go back and forth and recline like they should. Carpeting is in wonderful condition, and has only three tiny imperfections less than 4mm in size, two of which are covered by the floor mats. Most folks won’t even see them, but I need to mention it. Behind the seat, the storage cubby looks unused, and the jack, wrench, and associated goodies are still in the well where the factory put them. Center console is clean and the lid opens and close with ease. It still has the sliding try too, which is rare! The original owner packet cassette from GM is included, and still plays just fine. Also included are the locks for the wheels! Pillar panels, rear panels, and kick panels are in excellent condition, as it the headliner, visors, and rear seatbacks. Kick plates are in excellent condition, and are damage free. Door panels show wonderfully and damage free, and all the buttons work like they should for the power windows and door locks. Door jambs, inner door skins, under door and hinge areas of the truck all are exceptionally clean and in fantastic condition. Both doors open and close perfectly, with no sagging, or signs or prior sagging like scuff marks and damage. Fit and alignment is exceptional, and all doors are lubricated to avoid any squealing during use. Overall, the interior is as clean and exceptional as the outside and engine bay on the truck! Underneath, the Southern States have been very kind to this truck, as the clean and rust free chassis shows. There is NO rustproofing, NO rhino liner, NO cover up under the truck, just clean, bare metal and a little Georgia red dust in a couple corners! Frame is rock solid and rust and issue free. Cab and bed floors are rock and solid and rust and issue free. Rockers are rock solid and rust and issue free. It has not been painted or detailed underneath, so it won’t win a prize for best-looking chassis at the local cruise night, but it is solid, clean, functional, and works PERFECTLY! There are NO known issues with any of the chassis or suspension components, and everything is working just like it should. There are currently NO KNOWN ISSUES with anything on the truck, and after putting more than a few miles on it myself, I am 100% comfortable in saying that you could fly in and drive this bad boy home anywhere you would want to! It comes with the original owners packet, Dyno sheet, factory jacking instructions, and copies of the perfect CarFAX and AutoCheck reports.
