Chevrolet Camaro 1968 Description
The right colors; the right enhanced V8 crate motor; and the right price... This 1968 Chevrolet Camaro SS tribute gets a lot of things right from the first moment you look at it, but as you get closer for the details, it gets even better.
Take a good look at these pictures, a Camaro this straight and clean shows that it has been carefully maintained for nearly half a century. But what really set it apart are the upgrades that make it a showstopper without losing its original Camaro spirit. This starts with the paint where the Teal Blue was swapped for a factory shade of LeMans Blue. The color lives up to its race-bred name with super slick gloss and shine, plus the white SS stripes help add to this sporty distinction. The blacked-out SS grille, front chin spoiler, cowl hood, and D80 rear spoiler are all great looking muscle car upgrades. The original optional Rally wheels were upgraded to a slightly larger 15-inch set from a Z28 to better fill out the wheel well. All of this makes for a Camaro that carries all of the best elements from '68.
The interior is both highly original and very interesting. Usually a car like this would have a black interior, but this one is quite distinctive with the bucket seats that are still in their original blue vinyl. The color matches the door panels, carpeting, headliner, and dash. All of this is in remarkable condition, with plenty of bright accents are all in place. This includes the correct Camaro nameplates on the doors and the lockable glovebox - did you also happen to notice Chip Foose and Robin Zander (lead singer of Cheap Trick) signed the lid?! A welcomed introduction for the 1968 model year was the Astro Ventilation system. It not only helped get more fresh air into the car, but it also eliminated the need for vent windows in the front. So unlike the first year Camaro you now have the true pillarless look with all the windows rolled down. You'll slip behind the original three-spoke steering wheel and look out over the cool dual pod gauge design. While this factory setup is always desirably cool, there's a pair of auxiliary gauges, which tells you there's something good going on in the engine bay.
Under the hood is Chevy's trusty 350 cubic-inch V8 looking great with plenty of new and polished components. While that engine was available in 1968, it was never as powerful as this. You're looking at 330 hp crate motor that has been further enhanced with go-fast goodies such as Quick Fuel four-barrel carburetor, Edelbrock intake, and long tube performance headers. You'll love the sound it makes when the dual exhaust barks at fire up, and this one does it reliable thanks to less than 1,110 miles on the motor. It's built to make the most out of its power thanks to a Powerglide transmission that's been enhanced with a 2300 RPM stall and shift kit. No matter if you're doing the stoplight grand prix or just weekend cruising, this Camaro feels great thanks to the upgraded independent front suspension. Add in the power, steering, front disc brakes, and the grip of BF Goodrich tires, and this is a great anytime American classic.
This Camaro has been a labor of love, and there's even $17K in build receipts to prove it. These are all the best elements of a '68 with some serious horsepower backing it all up. A well-built classic like this doesn't last long in out showroom. Call today!!!
