Chevrolet Other Pickups 1958 Description
1958 Chevy Pickup 3100
- Truck was brought back from Arizona in 2002
- Previous owner painted the truck, it was a "20 ft" quality paint job, I decided to go for more of a rat rod look and sanded/scuffed up that paint job
- New 350 crate motor (260HP base engine) installed in 2003. This was the kit from Pace with all accessories, 4bbl carb, intake, distributor, etc
- Has Corvette cast iron exhaust manifolds and 3" pipe with turbo mufflers leading out in front of rear wheels, not too loud but nice sound
- Has the CPP power steering added with Ididit steering column
- Rebuilt speedo
- Aftermarket stereo and speakers (hidden in the vent panels)
- Rebuilt heater
- 3 speed auto trans (was in truck when I bought it, shifts OK)
- Original suspension was pretty much all rebuilt (kingpins, 4 wheel drum-wheel cylinders), upgraded bearings in front, new master cylinder
- Has added shoulder belts
- Bench seat is from another year Chevy pickup, red vinyl, in decent shape, but some rips, along the seams
- Bed wood recently refinished--notice that this does not have the steel rails in between boards
- Has chrome smoothie wheels with newer Goodyear tires (a few years old, hardly any miles)
- Gel cell battery is a few years old
- Has replacement aftermarket windshield wiper motor kit
- Some things known wrong with truck:
- I bought truck in Arizona so body panels are almost all very clean, but see photos of rear cab corners, driver and pass. side have some rust, may have been repaired at one time. Also look at photos of the driver side "running board"/step inside the cab--this is kind of banged up over the years, I never got around to replacing it.
- Heater was replaced and works, the motor bearing makes a squeal sometimes at some motor speeds
- Driver side door handle could use replacement, the latch or spring is weak and you will need to push the door handle button to unlatch before closing the door
- Someone backed into passenger side lower fender behind wheel, notice in the picture the slightly different color paint. That area was bumped out and some body filler used.
- Door seals could be replaced, there is some leakage in the rain
- Dr. and passenger windows work, but when rolling up, you need to grab hold of the glass and rock it a little to complete rolling up windows
- The vent windows work, but the pins should be replaced
- The wipers at some time over the years made some small scratches in the windshield
- Seat is not terrible, but has some tears and some issues at the seams
- Overall nice truck, too many other projects to finish
