Chevrolet Chevelle 1965 Description

The Chevrolet Malibu Chevelle introduced in 1964 was the perfect fit between the diminutive Chevy II and the full-size Chevrolet. The new car resembled a scaled-down Chevrolet but established its own identity with distinctive styling cues and a well-designed and roomy interior that was at its sportiest in Super Sport trim. The Malibu Super Sport returned in 1965 with few revisions. Easily identified by blacked-out front and rear trim, Impala spinner wheel covers, extra bright exterior trim and SS badges inside and out, the Super Sport package established Chevelle’s performance image at the outset of the classic muscle-car era, one that would remain undisputed to the end. Built at the Fremont, California, assembly plant, this attractive 1965 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu SS convertible remained a California car until it was purchased by a Kansas City, Missouri, resident in 2011. It was then put through a comprehensive two-year frame-off restoration using NOS and original parts and components, and was correctly refinished in its very unique marriage of code-P Evening Orchid Metallic paint, white soft-top and ivory-over-black interior. The matching-numbers 327/300 HP small-block V-8 provides snappy performance in concert with the Chevelle’s 4-speed manual transmission and heavy-duty 12-bolt Positraction rear end. The interior incorporates the classic SS formula for sporty driving: standard vinyl bucket seats, a center console with locking storage and optional Impala-style wood-grain steering wheel. The car retains its original California Black license plates and is generously optioned with power steering and brakes, Soft Ray-tinted glass and power windows, power soft top, tilt steering column, dash-mounted clock, remote-control driver’s mirror, AM/FM pushbutton radio and below-dash tissue dispenser. Well cared for and described as a beautiful driver, it is as clean underneath as it is above and has been stored in a climate-controlled garage.
