Chevrolet Other Pickups 1956 Description
Up for sale is my 1956 1/2 ton long bed Chevrolet pickup. I purchased it from a gentleman that owned it for over 40 years. It still has it's original engine, transmission, rear, sheet metal and glass. The truck has less than 115000 miles, documented by the inspection receipts found in the glove box.The truck had been parked under his carport for the last 12 years due to health reasons but he couldn't bring himself to sell it. That's where I came in! After 2 years I was finally able to rescue it. The owner told me the history of the truck. It had an amateur repaint in 1980 and he had the engine overhauled when it turned 100000 miles. Since have had it, I have gone over the truck, repairing or replacing everything needed to put it back on the road. The fuel system was completely gone through, cleaning and flushing out the tank, replacing the fuel pump, overhauling the carburetor, and replacing all the fuel hoses.I replaced the muffler. Next was the cooling system,I back flushed the block and heater core, replaced all the hoses and thermostat, then installed a brand new high performance aluminum radiator capable of cooling a 400hp V8. I overhauled the distributor, performed a major tune up, replaced the battery, battery tray, mount and hold down and the truck came back to life. For the drive train,I flushed out the transmission and rear and replaced the U joints. The front end is tight and I added a steering stabilizer .The front wheel bearings have been replaced and all 4 wheels have been sand blasted and refinished to repair the slow leaks from the tires.I replaced the tail lights and rear wiring harness and installed turn signals as it didn't come factory equipped. Replaced all outside bulbs and lenses and replaced the choke and throttle cables. I repaired the heater fan, replaced the fan switch and wiring and defroster hoses. The glass is original and the passenger door glass has crack in it along with a broken pivot on the right wing window but I have replaced all the channel felts, door glass fuzzies and overhauled the window regulators as well as the wiper blades and outside mirrors. The truck rides, drives and stops as it did when new.I even replaced the speedometer cable and housing because it was noisy and the needle was jumping. The interior is in good shape with no tears in the seat but does show the many years of wear. As for the body,it has the normal chips and bruises from being driven and the paint has a nice patina and is faded in areas (especially the right side as it was exposed while sitting in his carport) but is in good shape overall. The truck looks very good from 20 feet but as I said, it had an amateur paint job 36 years ago so it is far from a show truck but it is reliable and can still be used as a truck for that Saturday morning trip to the Home Depot for a load of mulch and still get lots of "thumbs up" where ever you go! I am selling this truck "as-is" with no warranty and have tried my best to describe it as honestly as I could. If you have any questions, please send me your phone number and best time to call and I will answer all your questions. Please don't send any ridiculous low ball offers.I reserve the right to end this ad at any time as it is advertised locally as well. The buyer is responsible for all shipping costs and making all the shipping arrangements.I require a $500 non-refundable deposit and full payment in cash or bank wire within 3 days. Thanks for looking!
