Chevrolet Corvette 1964 Description
This is a numbers matching (Chapter Top Flight) convertible / Hardtop that received a full body off mechanical restoration 5 years ago. This included the frame being sand blasted and restored to factory condition with all new suspension components and body mounts. The motor (327/300hp), transmission and rear end were completely rebuilt and assembled to factory specs. The power steering, clutch u-joints and trailing arms were also completely new or rebuilt. The brake system was also completely rebuilt having new lines, hoses, wheel cylinders and drums. All the hoses and their clamps are correct GM with a brand new numbers correct radiator and heater core. The car was restore with the objective to drive whenever and where ever I wanted to go, hence the mechanical restoration and not a complete body restoration. Since the car was completely numbers matching all work was completed with the intention of having it flight judged. In 2012 the car received a Chapter Top Fight award only getting gigged for paint and condition. To make this car a true show piece the body would need to be repainted. Like I said, I did the car because I wanted to drive it, I didn’t want a museum piece that I would be afraid to take anywhere. I believe the only thing that stopped working since the restoration is the clock. Since I had it judged I didn’t want to put a quarts movement in it. I’m sure if you take it apart and clean it, it will work just fine. The seat, carpets, black date coded convertible top were all new when restored. The cluster was also restored at that time along with the glove box door. The radio still works, though a little staticie. There are no cracks in the body and the paint is in decent shape with slight checking on the rear deck. As illustrated in one of the photos there is signs of fatigue on the fender bonding area in the door jamb. This cannot be seen from outside and can be touched up easily. The only reason I am selling my car is because I have a total of six corvettes right now and want to buy a C7.
