Chevrolet Impala 1958 Description
The 1958 Chevrolet Impala is a landmark automobile, and is rapidly starting to eclipse its popular tri-five predecessors in terms of desirability and value. This stunning restored coupe retains everything that was great about this classic, right down to the numbers-matching V8. But as you dig deeper you'll find a few nicely placed upgrades to make this stunning coupe also your favorite cruiser. We know one reason why you can't take your eyes off this car...paint. That black is part of a modern professional application, so you get the kind of attention-grabbing shine that you can only get from a super-slick clearcoat. But it takes more than paint to get it looking so right. Only an investment in the straightest bodywork will allow for a mirror black to look this good. The car is a visual delight, too, with awesome details everywhere you look. Check out the chrome grille that runs from end to end in the front of the lower, wider, longer '58 Chevy. The hardtop styling of the top-of-the-line Impala just looked fast standing still, and you can see how this first-year car really launched the now legendary Impala nameplate. The sides had full-length chrome trim, and starting in the rear quarters began an outline that would seamlessly wrap around the taillights for an appearance like tailfins turned on their side a very cool iconic touch. All the brightwork is essential for the '58 Impala's style, and all is present and shining. Even the factory stylized wheel covers and whitewalls are on this one, so you know some real time and money was spent getting this big Chevy right.Tri-tone interiors were the Impala's calling card, and the gray, black, and turquoise is a nicely restored example of a factory package. Everything from the bright insert in the door panel to the tight headliner appears nicely preserved, if not brand new. The black seats get a cool tri-tone insert that both breaks up the sea of darkness, and adds distinction. So you know this full-size Chevy can carry everyone in distinctive comfort. The dashboard is a big step forward compared to the '57s, and the correct two-spoke jet-age inspired steering wheel is beautifully finished with lots of bright details. The gauges are nicely rendered with crisp numbers on black backgrounds. And while everything looks period-correct right down to the AM radio, this one has been subtly upgraded to also receive FM signals for better music while you're out cruising. On a coupe so nicely presented so far, you'll love lifting the hood to see the numbers-matching original V8. This 283 cubic-inch powerhouse looks great in the Impala's engine bay. There's a correct air cleaner up top, proper Chevrolet script valve covers, and lots of Chevy orange paint to jump out at you against the black engine bay. A correct dual barrel carburetor and Powerglide automatic transmission keep everything cruising like a cool '50s machine should. But then you start to spot some upgrades like the more reliable alternator in place of a generator, and the braking package that's now powered with discs up front for superior control. So while the undercarriage looks immaculate right down to the stainless dual exhaust, all these upgrades means you won't be able to resist taking this cool Chevy out for a Sunday drive. Here's an expertly restored Impala that is the perfect color outside, wonderfully authentic inside, and a numbers-matching V8 underneath the hood. Complete with owner's manual, it's getting harder to find these single-year Impala hardtops, especially one that has been expertly prepared just the way you want it. So don't miss out, call today!!!
