Chevrolet Other Pickups 1950 Description

1950 Chevrolet 3100 5-Window Pickup

Great 3100 1/2-ton Deluxe 5-window pickup with ownership history dating back to 1978! Recent ownership history covers the past 29 years and a cosmetic restoration completed in Fall 2004! Records document the engine as having just 40,000 original miles! Nicely equipped with original 216ci engine with 3-speed column shift manual, chrome bumpers & grill, color matched wheels, dual mirrors, driver armrest, dual sun visors, cab light, oak bed and side rails, and heat/defrost! Super solid and ready to enjoy!

The first major Chevrolet truck redesign came about after World War II as the Advance Design in 1947. With a more refined, sleeker body that incorporated the headlights fully into the more squared front fenders, along with a full steel hood that curved downward to meet at the grill featuring horizontal grill bars versus vertical, and just tighter body lines overall. They were toughed in all advertising as being bigger and stronger than their predecessors, and rightfully so!

We are very proud to offer this well documented 1950 Chevrolet 3100 half–ton Deluxe 5-window pickup finished in its original color of Pure White over Burgundy Vinyl interior! Fitted with its original 216.5ci Inline 6 cylinder engine mated to the 3-speed column shift manual transmission, it delivers no less than expected power and reliability! Features include gorgeous chrome grill, chrome front bumper with guards, and chrome rear bumper, along with stained & polyurethaned rear oak bed, custom oak bed rails, dual outside mirrors, spot light, upper cowl vent & driver’s side cowl vent, turn signals, dual sun visors, vacuum wipers, Chevrolet heater/defrost system, interior cab light, rubber floor mat, Chevrolet exhaust turn-down tip, interior driver’s armrest, full dash instrumentation, and more!

The story of this special 5-window Deluxe truck built March 1950 in Janesville, Wisconsin starts with us in October 1978 when Edith Garrett of Oskaloosa, IA sold it to Charles Perdue of Rock Island, IL with only 37,724 miles on the odometer. Charles who was moving from Rock Island, IL to Oskaloosa to take a teaching job decided to service and utilize the truck sparingly in the small town adding just 520 miles to the odometer before moving again in August 1983 to Manitowoc, WI. As time passes, the decision to sell the truck was made in March of 1987 to Kenneth Carson, who officially began a slow cosmetic restoration over the next 6 years. Only 39,000 miles were showcased on the odometer proving it was a low mileage candidate worthy of preservation. Beginning with small items like new hubcaps, interior pieces, chrome lamp bezels, bumper guards, and other miscellaneous weather stripping being replaced, it was finally decided to be repainted for the first time in May 2004 by Beck’s Repairs & Auto Sales. Finished in September 2004 with professionally replaced cab corners, new fender welting, brand new chrome grill, refinished interior in semi-flat brown, new upholstery & door panels, the final results really proved worthy for this owner who would hang onto it for another 12 years!

The odometer records support it tallied just 39,894 miles before the instrumentation was sent to Jim Carter’s Antique Truck for a complete rebuild. In the case of the original core being replaced for a new speedometer/odometer unit, the odometer today now only reads 617 miles. By 2005, a new stained oak bed was installed, and in 2007 an oak bed rail rack added. When the truck arrived to our Museum in 2016, the engine oil/filter where replaced, a new battery installed, front wheel bearings replaced, new muffler fitted, fresh valve cover gasket installed, and a complete detail of all components initiated. It is a gorgeous truck with wonderfully solid attributes! It is complete with original owner’s manual, Chevrolet accessory & installation guide, official accessory price list, Chevrolet travel log by Rand McNally along with jack, matching spare tire, & lug wrench! The previous owner was the caretaker of this special Chevy for the past 29 years. We are happy to answer any questions, and offer a chance to schedule a viewing opportunity to see it in person. We look forward to hearing from you!
