Chevrolet G20 Van 1982 Description
I bought this van in February 2016 with the intent to put a vinyl wrap on it and use it to promote my business. It was running poorly, so I took it to a local mechanic. He discovered that the original 305 engine block had been replaced with a 1979 two bolt main 350 engine block which had a bad camshaft among other problems.
The following is a list of repairs that were completed:
NEW: Camshaft, Lifters, Starter, Fuel Pump, Water Pump, Thermostat, Radiator Cap, Spark Plugs, Belts, and a brand new Edelbrock 600 cfm carburetor with electric choke.
Also NEW: Front Brake Calipers, Pads, Brake Lines.
The front wheel bearings were packed, and battery and wipers replaced as well.
The van now starts and runs well. I have driven it roughly a hundred miles around town.
There are original vinyl bucket seats up front, a chrome spoke steering wheel, Kenwood AM/FM cassette player with Kraco speakers mounted overhead behind seats. The headliner is vinyl, and the rest of the walls and floor are carpeted. There is a storage area for the spare tire and jack. The spare stored there has a bad tire, but I will include a good tire mounted on a rally wheel for a spare.
Van has rally wheels that have been painted black with chrome beauty rings and spinners mounted on stock center caps. 225/70/15 BFG's up front, 275/60/15 Futura on rear. All have good tread.
The body is solid. Door bottoms and rockers, etc are not rusted. There is rust on battery tray, and a spot of rust on drivers front fender directly below the battery which is common on these vans. There are various dents, dings, and scrapes, but no major body damage. Paint is very thin on the roof. The hood appears to have been repainted and doesn't match the rest of the van in color. I believe the rest of the paint would buff and shine up pretty well. It was not detailed (or even washed) for photos.
The porthole windows are mounted on exterior, but no holes were cut through the walls.
AC compressor and lines have been removed. I don't think the blower fan worked last time I drove the van but not sure why.
This is not a show quality van inside or out. However it is very presentable, and gets lots of looks and positive feedback from all who see it. I spent a lot of money on the repairs, and hate to part with the van, but plans have changed. The Buy It Now price is break even for me, but I have set a LOW RESERVE price.
