Chevrolet Corvette 1969 Description

CORVETTE LOVERS/COLLECTORS/ENTHUSIASTS ONLY – 1969 Corvette 427 L36 - 390HP

This is my 1969 Top Flight Chevrolet Corvette with all matching numbers engine, transmission and rear end. This car is 94.1% original (2016 NCRS Judging Event).

Extremely original car that retains all of what was installed at the factory with the exception of what needed to be replaced for drivability and safety.

This car has spent 46 years of its life with the first two owners within a few miles of the original selling dealership in Owatonna< Minnesota. The original owner special ordered it in January 1969, received it in April and kept it for the next 41 years! The odometer is currently reading 34,571 miles. Everything is in good working order except for the windshield wiper door which currently remains up/open due to a vacuum leak (not sure if I will have the time fix it before the sale). Factory installed glass is still present.

It was ordered with the following options according to the tank sticker: 427 CI – 390 HP Turbo Jet V8, 4-speed close ratio transmission, posi-traction 3:36 rear end, tilt-telescopic steering wheel, soft ray tinted glass, rear window defroster, F70-15 red stripe tires, special wheel covers, front fender louvers with trim, AM/FM radio in Fathom green with black interior.

I have the original window sticker ($5,729.05 MSRP), protecto plate, warranty papers, owner’s manual, key number knock outs (rare), special order receipt with the $100 deposit check, paid in full delivery bill of sale receipt and the canceled check for the remaining balance of $5,249.85 dates April 3rd, 1969.

The original owner drove this Corvette approximately 18,343 miles up until late 1974 when he parked it in his furniture warehouse only to be taken out occasionally. He only added about 11,254 more miles over the next 15 years when the car needed a new AC Delco carburetor (I have the original) installed August 2, 1989 with 29,597. The points and condenser were also replaced (I have the receipt). The gas tank developed a leak and was replaced with a new one March 26, 1990. I have the original tank with the broadcast sheet still attached! New Firestone F70-15 red stripe bias play tires were installed June 13, 1990 (I still use them for shows and judging events). I purchased a set of Radial tires (2016) to drive around (only have a few hundred miles). Four new brake calipers with stainless piston sleeves were installed in 1996 and again in 2016 (I have the original calipers).

The exhaust pipes are stainless steel and both mufflers were replaced with OE style from Corvette Central on June 22, 2011. That same year, the distributor cap, rotor button and spark plugs were replaced. I replaced the spark plug wires in 2016 with original reproductions.

The radiator was replaced in January 2017 with an original reproduction (I have the original)

The car starts, runs, and drives amazingly well!

The paint is in nice condition with some “checking” in places. Mostly on the top of the front fenders, upper portion of the driver and passenger door as well as around the fuel filler door (see photos). These are common to fiber glass cars. The car was repainted once in the 80’s.

The gaps between the body panels are consistent with how it would have come from the factory. All of the chrome and bright work are excellent. There are some stone chips with most of them being in front of the rear tires behind the door, common on these cars. The front air dam was replaced and the rocker panel trim was refurbished. The bumpers look perfect.

The black interior is in excellent condition. There are no cracks or warping of the dash pad or tears in the seats or door panels. The interior looks as good as many 48-year-old car that I have seen. All the gauges look great with no fading to the numbers. . The bright work and trim throughout the interior look nice. The original carpet is in very good condition with one wear area on the driver side under the clutch and brake pedal. The lights, radio, and the clock work. The engine, clutch, transmission, and differential all are in great condition. The engine compartment and under carriage remain untouched. Even the smog pump and emission tubes were never removed and still work.

You are welcome to inspect the car yourself or have a reputable company do an inspection on your behalf at your expense. I hold the title free and clear of any encumbrances and the car or the title will not be released until the funds have cleared my account. A $1,000 non-refundable Paypal deposit needs to be made within 24 hours of the sale ending and full balance to be paid within 7 days of auction ending. Balance due by bank wire transfer, cash in person or bank cashiers check before delivery. This is an auction to buy, not win and then negotiate after the fact. Please have your funds ready and permission from your significant other prior to bidding. Anyone with zero or negative feedback needs to contact me prior to bidding or you will be blocked.
