HISTORY:This truck was bought by my grandfather back in 1976 from some guy who just moved to Arizona from Michigan. The truck has since spent most of it's life working as an additional farm vehicle. The main purpose was to pick up small loads from Phoenix and Tucson and deliver them back to the farm or visa-versa. The farm was located in Eleven Mile Corner Arizona, about halfway between Phoenix and Tucson. The speedometer has been turned at least once, my grandfather estimates that it has been turned three times. By his account the estimated mileage is about 333,000. My grandfather used this truck like it was meant to be used, it has been a reliable and valued truck for many years and has seen it's shares of scratches, nicks, bangs, dents, and even a few stumps pulled by the fender. It has towed countless trailers all over Arizona and California, But I cannot recall him having any accidents. He did have the engine rebuilt at one time and he kept it well maintained until he parked it 8 years ago.
The farm was called Sunshine Turkey Ranch EST 1906, and was the first commercial poultry farm in the Arizona Territory, and later the first registered poultry farm when Arizona became a state.Current conditionMy grandfather moved from Coolidge to Casa Grande 8 years ago and parked the truck for the most part until his death in June 2016.*While he had the truck parked he put a piece of carpet over the hood for the last two years and it caused the sun beaten paint to give way to a light coat of rust over the hood and two front quarter panels.* I sanded most of the rust off and painted it over with flat white rustoleum*The hood still has some rust spots in the center and on the front lip. I could not sand it off with a sander like the rest of the truck. Someone needs to use a grinder for deeper rust spots. They are little spots about the size of a B.B. or pellet in an area about four inches round right in the center of the hood on top.* the hood also has a rust crack on the hood on the small piece facing forward. I was thinking of replacing the hood.*The quarter panels still have a small amount of rust and a little rust-through on the very bottom of the quarter panel near the doors.* There is also a little rust through at the rear bottom of the quarter panels. Nothing some fiberglass or bondo won't fix.* No structural rust on the frame, only some light coat on scratches easily sand-able. The engine is old and ugly, looks kind of like someone put a tractor engine in a truck, but the engine runs great and does not leak. It did when I started cleaning it up back in August. It had a valve cover gasket leak,*I replaced the valve cover gasket, no more leak. The truck has been sitting in my driveway when I am not driving it to Tucson or Casa Grande, and there are no leaks on my driveway or street. * I replaced the Alternator and voltage regulator with a modern alternator. (brand new)* I replaced the battery* The seat is tore up good. Some bare springs, but all the springs are there and the frame is perfect for reupholstering.*The dashboard is cracked from the sun, I was going to replace it.*The interior metal finish is still in good condition except for the floor under the feet. Needs new paint.*Behind the seat my grandfather installed some metal box shelves to hold tools and extra car parts. I like them, you can take them out easily.*the original interior door panels are in good condition with a layer of sun damage.*Has original radio, I do not know if it works, It is unhooked and does not currently work.*windows roll up and down fine*Hood hinges work fine.*Driver's door hinge needs adjusting, or maybe the door latch needs adjustment, maybe both. The driver door is a little loose.*The truck starts easy, runs well, and can still haul 1/2 ton of metal. I removed almost 8 tons of scrap metal from my grandfather's place in the back of that truck.*It definitely needs a good sanding and a new paint job.I was going to keep this truck, but I decided after retiring last year that I do not want a project, I would rather do other stuff than fix a truck. Good luck to whoever wins this auction.
THIS TRUCK IS DRIVABLE. It runs great. I drive it to Tucson and back once or twice per month and to Casa Grande four or five times per month. It's registered and has passed emissions. I would not travel with a car seat (child car seat) and the seat belts are there, but you might want to consider buying a seat cover when you pick up the truck so you can put the seat belts through it properly. Right now I have a blanket draped over the seat and am not using the seat belts.
This truck is located near 43rd Avenue and Cactus in Phoenix Arizona. You will have to pick it up from there.
I will not accept a deposit. FULL paymentis required upon auction close. If you want to drive over here and pay cash, I will accept that. When you come for the truck I will give you the opportunity to cancel the sale if you feel for any reason that I misrepresented the truck in any way. I will not be responsible for any travel costs for you to look at the truck. I will however refund 100% of your money at that time if you are not satisfied. After you have taken possessionof the truck and driven off from my house, I will not offer any refund. This is an AS-IS-Sale.If you need time to make arrangements to pick it up or travel here, I am ok with that. The truck is legal and in my driveway. It does not have to move right away. But I would like you to pick it up within 30 days. If you ask me to wait to pick it up, I will not offer the opportunity to cancel the sale after 7 days.
