Chevrolet Impala 1962 Description
CONTACT JEFF AT 570 977 0741.Up for sale andyour consideration is a really cool 1962 Impala SS that is not a clone or a tribute. The original SS emblems and cove insert are still there along with the original bucket seat mounting plates welded to the floor. It was purchased by my uncle in 2012 after the previous owner dumped a bunch of money into the driveline. Please take the time to look over all 24 photos thatI have included here. If any prospective buyer has any question as to the integrity of this car I welcome and encourage an in person viewing by appointment to answer any and all questions that you may have. Also all inspections will take place before the purchase, not after. The specifications are as follows.
BODY: Body was left as purchased with an older repaint that is showing it's age. Some owners prefer the patina look and a repaint would have greatly increased the selling price. The original color was black (code 900). Bumpers are nice original, all glass is good. a nicer grille and hood lip molding go with car. The floors, trunk and frame are solid. Being a northeast car it has the usual underside rust issues with some of the floor supports, inner rockers and rear body mounts needing some attention.
ENGINE: Previous owner installed a 305 engine topped with an aluminum intake, Edelbrock carburetor, electronic ignition and fender well headers. Exhaust flows through new dual exhaust with flowmaster mufflers. New hoses and belts.
TRANSMISSON: Muncie 4 speed with new hurst shifter.
INTERIOR: Mostly original black with the exception of new carpeting, headliner, front bucket seat covers from Ciadella with the proper original pattern and new seat tracks to replace the old worn out originals. A new IDIDIT tilt steering column was installed along with a new grant 13" steering wheel. Under dash gauges all work. Original SS console and grab bar are in good shape. No cracks in padded dash. New power steering. New heater core. Speedometer does not work.
DIFFERENTIAL: New 373 posi rear with new axles.
BRAKES: New brakes, drums, lines and dual master cylinder.
SUSPENSION: New coil springs, bushings, shocks and trailing arms.
GAS TANK: New with new sender and lines.
WHEELS AND TIRES: Vintage ET wheels. 6" front with 205-70-R14 tires. 7 1/2inch rear with 245-60-R14 tires.
DATE PLATE: Reveals this is an original tuxedo black (code 900) SS with trim code 812 (black buckets) and according to 348-409.com the SS-K after ACC denotes an original 409 equipped car. So if you happen to have a spare 62 409 engine laying around, this could be a real money maker.
This is not a show car nor is it priced as one. It did not spend its whole life in the Arizona desert. It is a driver quality car that can be enjoyed from day one. The new parts installed in 2012 by the previous owner have less than 500 miles on them. It is an opportunity to own a desirable and popular late great Chevy without breaking the bank. A real car person is well aware of the cost of a really nice 62 SS. Trades will be considered, but low ballers and story tellers will be ignored.
