Chevrolet C-10 1986 Description
1986 CHEVROLET SILVERADO PICKUP - SHORT WHEEL BASE! BLACK ON BLACK!This truck has received a full frame off restoration by a "restoration only shop" that was established in 1984. This truck was referred to as the "shop truck". It was a project that was done on the side while restoring other customer's cars. The intention was to allow the shop staff a project that they could design and build just for the fun of it. A project where they could show off their skill sets unencumbered by customer guidelines and budgets. The starting point was a virgin rust free southern farm truck. The first step was disassembling the truck down to every last nut and bolt. The frame and every last suspension component was all media blasted down to bare metal. The bare metal was sprayed with a high quality metal etching two part epoxy and then top coated with PP&G single stage black for a durability that far surpasses factory original. The suspension was reassembled with all new wear items and polyurethane including all body mounts. The six inch lower stance on the back axle was accomplished by a flip kit. The front suspension was lowered by four inches by lowering coils. The entire brake system was completely replaced with all new parts down to all the hard lines. After stripping every inch of the cab and bed down to bare metal, it too was sprayed with the high quality metal etching two part epoxy. All trim studs and fastener holes were welded up and ground smooth. The cab drip rails were removed and discarded. A metal roll pan was welded in place on the back of the bed. The factory truck hood has had the center panel sectioned and replaced with a '68 Camaro Super Sport Simulation Stack hood. The Camaro hood was a factory original part and all seams were joined with a continuous weld. The next step was primer blocking of all body surfaces. They did not just stop with the outside surfaces of the exterior panels. The inner wheel wells, core support, fire wall, and the entire interior of the cab was primer blocked multiple times as well. The shops blocking process consists of two coats Upol reface: long board blocked; re-apply two coats Upol reface and longboard block a second time. Then apply a coat of PP&G 2K primer and final sand just prior to applying the base clear. The shop has found this system to produce a dead flat surface void of any imperfections. The floors from the factory pinch weld at the bottom of the firewall to the rear of the bed was sprayed with PP&G single stage black and then top coated with Upol Rock Guard. Although this is an expensive process, the shop feels that this gives them the very toughest surface protection and exterior sound deadening available without resorting to undercoating. The next step was to apply the PP&G base / clear. The shop used and prefers euro clear (JC6700) Three coats were applied and allowed to dry. Then it was sanded with 400 grit and then reapply three more coats of clear. This process gives that deep wet show quality look. After the clear dried a week was spent wet sanding and buffing. This paint process wasn't just applied to the exterior surfaces. The core support, firewall, inner wheel wells, and the entire interior received the base / clear system and we sand & buff. The 454 came untouched, so after hot tubing it was only bored 0.30 over and plugged with sealed power flat tops. The rotating assembly was fully balanced. The oval port heads have been gone thru and the grind is fresh. The cam is a Comp Extreme part #11-242-3, gring # XE-268-H. All wear items such as cam bearings, oil pump, timing set, etc. have been replaced. Edelbrock Performer Intake, Demon 850 car installed. The turbo 400 transmission has been completely rebuilt with new clutches and band. The custom bent 3 inch exhaust has Flowmaster 40 series mufflers. The factory A/C has completely rebuilt and updated to R134. The interior is also new, fresh out of the box; seats, carpet, door panels, dash pad, headliner, etc. All weather stripping and glass channel runs are new along with the power window motors. All four stereo speakers and JVC unit are new. The 20 inch BOSS 335 rims are mounted with Hankook Ventus V12 Evo 245/40ZR/20's. All glass was tinted prior to install to insure the best quality job. The bed has been spray lined up to and under the bed sides. The remaining exterior trim, mirrors and door handles have been color keyed black to match the paint. The front turn signals have been deleted from the new grill and moved down to the bumper. If you are looking for a Chevy truck that has been restored to a very high quality by professionals that did the job for the pure enjoyment of the build, then this better than factory built truck is worth your time to come check out.
I bought the truck three years ago from this shop. I had the new gauges installed 4 months ago. I have driven the truck less than 1000 miles since owing it. There are no mechanical issues. A/C blows cold. The truck sounds awesome. The pictures of the truck in its finished state were taken 3/20/2017. Always stored inside. Has never seen rain. Custom truck cover included. Cons: a few pieces of exterior trim such as the key latch assembly (both), windshield wipers, and vent window trim need to be touched up. The wheels need a good metal cleaning, the engine compartment could use a professional detail and the camaro hood louvers need to be resealed because the leak if you wash the truck hood. Just trying to be as honest as I can. Feel free to call me to ask additional question or make an appointment to see the truck in person. I have more pics, so email me if you are serious. The reserve is very reasonable for a truck with this much work done. Vehicle only leaves my possession once funds clear my bank. Wire transfer is preferred. I am not a dealer so I will not be collecting tax. Thanks for looking! Email me for my phone number. Frank
