Chevrolet Other Pickups 1961 Description

It’s finally time to move on from my beloved 1961 Chevy Apache long-bed Fleetside truck. These aircraft-styled, front pod, pick-ups excited me back in the day and they’re super hot now. I still love the look. This is the perfect Fire Company Truck!

I restored this truck 20 years ago and it’s been kept in a climate-controlled garage since then. The paint is still perfect, as is the interior. I’ve driven it two or three times a year the entire time and have always kept fresh gas in it. It starts, steers, runs and stops the way it should.

This is the sought-after Custom model---upgraded herringbone fabric on the bench seat, two-tone interior, dealer-installed air, extra chrome trim (including the rare polished stainless steel grill and bumpers), and everybody’s favorite big back window. They didn’t make them any better than they did this one back in 1961!

What could I have improved on further? The wheelwell covers in the bed aren’t perfect. I always meant to get around to re-doing them, but they look good and it wasn’t worth the effort. The speedo hasn’t worked for about 10 years, although the mileage on it has got to be close. I’ve put no more than 1000 miles on it since I’ve owned it.I need a new antenna (the dust cover broke it off). The original truck was black/white two-tone and rust free---I searched long and hard for a good candidate.

All of the window rubber was replaced as were the fabrics for the main and vent windows. The windshield was replaced and the big back window is original. The gas tank was sealed and painted when the truck was restored. The wheels are original with their original hubcaps. The tires are from Coker and were replaced 10 years ago. No dryrotting anywhere.

I did do a custom dual exhaust system---just because I like it. The truck sounds perfect---not too loud but definitely a truck. I also had to install a modern radio—at least modern for 20 years ago. It sounds great.

I have no doubts you could drive this truck home, but you’d better bring a gas card with you! I’m happy to help arrange for safe transport to you.

The final frontier was to use this truck to haul my daughter and her husband to her wedding (this was her call since she helped me restore it). Now it’s time for the next family to enjoy it!

The truck is for sale locally and this listing can be pulled at any time. Contact me with any questions 3012211988.
