Chevrolet Other Pickups 1959 Description
Hello up for sale is my 1959 Chevy Apache. It has the rare short fleetside bed along with the big back window cab. This truck was just completed and has never been shown. It has undergone a comlete frame off build. The entire truck was media blasted and taken down to bare metal. Any and all rust was cut out and replaced with new metal. The original frame was boxed front to rear. The front suspension is aMustang II tubular front setup thathas beenmodified to allow for extra low stance while maintaining full suspension travel. Rear is a Ford 8.8 axle with 3.73 gears and posi. It's held in place by a triangulated 4 link. Adjustable coilovers and disc brakes are at all 4 corners.Custom made Mobsteel 20" steel wheels. 20x8 in the front and 20x10 in the rear. New ZR rated tires all around.Fuel tank is at the rear of the frame and custom gas filler is in the rear center of the bed. All fuel lines and fittings are black AN and black stainless. No rubber hoses or clamped lines what so ever. Engine is a 2002 5.7 liter all aluminum LS1 putting out right at 400HP. Trans is a 2002 4L60e. All wiring is from Painless performance. Factory GM ECM has been re-programmedto delete emissions anti-theft etc. and also has been programmed for the correct tire size and dual electric fan controls. Stainless steel headers Corvette Z06 plug wires Lokar midnight series dipsticks and custom "CORVETTE" script coil covers finish off the engine. Aluminum radiator with dual electric fans. All wiring has been hidden so engine bay is very clean and simple.Factory GM power steering has been re-valved to the correct pressure for the new Mustang II power rack. Custom dual exhaust with 40 series mufflers sound great.Power brakes are under the cab floor. Wilwood prop valve and check valves. Chassis has been primed and painted with chassis paint. Very detailed underneath. The exterior was treated to a show quality gloss black paint job. The door gaps were all cut and relocated so they line up perfect. The doors open and shut like a new car. All weatherstripping vent windows glass cranks handles etc. are all new. An original cab visor is mounted up front and really finishes off the cab very well. Custom louvers were punched in the hood along with matching ones on the custom roll pan. There is a hidden class 3 hitch behind the rear license plate. There is also a removeable oak push bumper and oak bed rails so this truck can instantly transform into a custom push-truck for all the early sprint cars dragsters etc. Great for cacklefest. Matching oak bedfloor and polished stainless steel bed strips and bolts finish up the bed. The interior of the bed underneath the whole truck inside thewheelwells has all been coated with bedliner. It looks awesome and is very durable. The header panel in the bed is gloss black though and is highly polished so the oak bed looks like it continues right up into the cab. The fleetside bed also has the very rare Deluxe fleetside stainless trim which is extremely hard to find. The interior of this truck is very cool. The firewall was made completely flat to allow for a custom oak floor with matching polished stainless strips. It matches the bed floor perfectly. We call this the "endless bed floor" and its awesome to see in person. The dash has been highly customized as well. A donor dash was used to replicate the hump and gauge opening on the passenger side. A custom made quartz clock was built with numbers and dots to resemble the factory gauges that have also been restored. This way the dash resembles most of the GM cars of this era with the symmetrical dash. All the gauges work along with a separate coolant temp gauge. The only one that doesn't work is the factory speedometer but a converter will be included with the truck that converts the electronic speed signal from the 4L60e trans to a mechanical signal that will drive the original speedo. I just never got around to installing it as speed is not really a concern of mine. I tend to just drive with traffic.A new tilt steering column was used along with an NOS 59 Corvette steering wheel that has all been custom painted to match the rest of the interior. A Gennie shifter selects the gears Lokar midnight series pedals and shiftboot keep things clean and simple. The entire cab was covered in Dynamat extreme so there are no squeaks or vibrations and it's very quiet and pleasant inside. The original seat was refoamed and recovered to resemble 59 Corvette seats. The engine ECM fuses and an Optima yellow top battery are behind the seat and easy to access. Painless ignition and light switch. Bright switch mounted on the floor.
