Chevrolet El Camino 1985 Description
1985 Chevrolet El Camino SS ChooChoo Custom W/ LS1 Engine and transmission. This is an original ChooCoo custom El Camino which was converted when new to the SS type appearance. below is a description of the conversion. Also, more recently it has received an LS1 engine and transmission from a 1998 Camaro resulting in 375 Horse Power.
The engine conversion includes full length Hooker ceramic coated headers and a new dual exhaust exiting from dual side pipes. Also a new 22 gallon fuel baffled fuel tank and in tank pump.
The car has very good power and is a blast to drive getting looks and waves from admiring Chevrolet lovers everywhere it goes. This is a unique chance to own a car specially modified new from the factory under direction from Chevrolet with the addition of some modern Chevrolet Muscle.
AllChooChooCustomsEl Caminos received a driver’s door jam Re-Certification decal which listed that particular vehicle’s sequential build number, year code, and the last six numbers of the vehicles VIN. Note: A reproduction Re-Certification decal is offered for sale online; it is a poor re-make of the original, so when buyinganElCaminothat is represented as a realChooChoo, inspect the decal thoroughly to make sure it is original.
1983 was the year with the fewestChooChooEl Caminos produced (approximately 22 units or less).Choo Choo Customscontinued to sell their El Camino conversion parts for several years after El Camino production ended.Choo Choowent out of business in the mid 2000s. At that time, Honest Charley’s Speed Shop (also based out of Chattanoog, TN ) assumed a portion of Choo Choo’s employees and El Camino parts, which they still sell today. The original polyurethaneChoo Choonose is no longer produced, but Honest Charley’s kept the original mold and continues to produce the nose out of fiberglass.
