Chevrolet Other Pickups 1976 Description
True Rust Free Western Square Survivor!
1976 Chevy K10 Scottsdale 4x4 (131.5†wheel base)
Amazing running 400sbc with a Rochester 800cfm spread bore 4bbl Quadrajet. Perfect shifting TH350 auto 3spd transmission, with cast iron NP203 full time 4-wheel. It has a Dana 44 in the front and a Corp 12 bolt in the rear, with 3.73 gears. Factory Air conditioning and Cruise control. Power Steering, Power Disc Brakes. Fleetside Body, Tinted Glass, Sliding Rear Window, Auxiliary Fuel Tank, and Factory Rally Wheels. Quartz Electric Clock, Dealer added Rear Step Bumper, Deluxe Two Tone Paint (141L 41 Spring Green), and Original AM Radio. Scottsdale (1Z62) Trim package. Verbal history indicates that this truck has had a total of three owners and spent its life, in Western Montana, until I brought it to Michigan in 2016. This truck sat in the garage for over 15 years, when the original owner passed away. (included the "old mans" AC Delco jacket) I have kept an air circulation fan running on the undercarriage for the past 11 months in Michigan condensation/humidity. The mileage at 45,629.5 is believed to be accurate original mileage, by those that have appraised/inspected this truck. The engine numbers check out to be original matching numbers.
The brake pads/rotors, and shocks look to be factory original and still work incredibly smooth. I just inspected and re-packed the wheel bearings, which are still perfect. I also had the air conditioning converted from R12 to R134a, and replaced the heater core. (it was still perfect, but leaking due to someone bending the inlet line, breaking the solder joint)
The factory dual exhaust was completely original, until I added some more throaty mufflers and new tail pipes. The front half remains original. (you can remove the clamp nuts and manifold studs by hand!)
The paint is 90% original. There looks to be evidence of some body work on the passenger side of the box. (a traffic accident at some point in the past 41.5 years, is very possible) The stone chip surface rust and the one typical rust hole on the inner drivers side wheel well is shown in the pictures.
This truck drives incredibly like new (for 70’s technology). Come take a look, as you will be totally amazed at the ability to remove any nut or bolt effortlessly with the twist of a finger!
The only items that do not function as new are the: clock, fuel gauge, and cigarette lighter. There is a small tear in the bench seat, and the seat back top edge is weather checked from the sun in the back window. The passenger plastic door panel is also faded, but can be re-dyed. I suspect this truck sat next to a garage window while it was stored, as it did not sit outdoors.
I would not hesitate to roll up the windows, turn on the air, and drive this truck across the country, but I didn’t let me 17 yr old take it to The Prom last week... It is THAT incredible! I cannot say enough good things about this truck. It is unexplainably original and tight. Those of you in the salt laden states East of the Mississippi, that are used to brand new $70,000 trucks having more rust in the first Winter, will be able to relate.
