Chevrolet Chevelle 1969 Description

For Sale: My Baby!! Absolutely gorgeous, fully restored 1969 Chevy Malibu. Current mileage 191,080. Original, numbers matching 350 engine & 350 transmission (10 bolt) professionally rebuilt at 186,xxx. So ~5K miles on the rebuild. Hardened valves & valve seats so it runs unleaded. We changed the bore, stroke, cam & compression, so it equates to a 357 cu in with approximately 350hp. Also put a minor shift kit in the trans, so it has a nice, smooth, positive shift without jarring your fillings loose.

Professional bodywork & original-color paint when engine rebuilt (about 10 years ago, but religiously garaged under a specialty car cover since then, so the paint is very vivid and glossy). Any and all minor rust (in the usual spots) was meticulously cut out and replaced with new metal panels. You'd be hard-pressed to find straighter, cleaner bodywork – not a ripple to be found anywhere. New original-color vinyl roof replaced at the same time, and that is in perfect shape as well – no tears or checking.

All glass is in perfect condition, with no chips or cracks. Chrome/brightwork is shiny and in good shape, minus a few tiny (barely noticeable) dings that an industrious person could easily work out if he/she wanted absolute perfection. Original bumpers were restamped in GM dies to make them perfectly true to original specs, then rechromed (yes, actual chrome – not nickel like they use now) so they sparkle. We also installed a new grill and Chevy emblem at the time of restoration.

All new original-color interior also installed at the time of rebuild, including door panels, headliner, seats, steering wheel, pedal pads, rear deck, dash pad, sun visors, carpets, window roller knobs and arm pads. Electrical system, all gauges & switches work great. Suspension & steering have been tightened up as well.

There are a couple of minor things that need looking after. Once I replaced the door panels and weatherstripping, the new, thicker rubber slightly misaligned with the rear window positions. So those windows should probably be readjusted. They still close just fine, but there's a tiny gap at the top front where they meet the front windows. It's relatively easy to do, as it's only a couple of screw adjustments, but I just haven't had time to do it. Also, when the bodywork was done, they cut out part of the front inner fender wells (not visible from the outside, and I've driven it like this for a while). I've purchased new ones and will include them with the car. Again, it should be an easy fix – I just haven't found time to actually do it. These would be simple weekend afternoon projects for any gearhead or father-son bonding.

I've owned and loved this car since 1985 (yep, before I even had my driver's license!). This thing looks and runs as well or better than the day she rolled off the line. It might not win any professional car shows, but is an EXTREMELY nice, original and reliable driver that really turns heads. Unfortunately, she just sits in her garage "cocoon" far too much these days, and it's time to pass her along.

Looking at KBB and other classic car sources, this car is valued at $19-22K, but I'm starting bidding at $15K (C'mon -- that's less than most Hyundais!). She deserves to be loved, driven and admired, and I hope she's the car for you...
