Chevrolet Nova 1966 Description

Be prepared to turn a lot of heads!

This car is as much fun to drive as it looks.

Hello, y name is Annie. I am a 1966 Chevy Nova station wagon. I began my life with Regal red paint, red interior, 283/powerglide engine transmission combination, ith an open 10 bolt rear. I was also equipped with power steering and AC.

In 2003, fter 37 years and 20,000+ miles in Texas, moved to PA with my new owners to begin a frame off restoration. During the winter of 2003-2004 my front sub-frame, ustom frame connectors, ngine, adiator, C, ower steering, uel tank and lines, wheel power disc brakes, ransmission, osi rear, 7” Cragar wheels, ed line tires and 2 ½” custom exhaust were replaced or modified.

I carried my new owners to Mooresville, C to the inaugural Dale Earnhardt Sr. Legacy Series all Nova show in June 2004, nd to the National Nostalgic Nova show in Atlanta, A (which I traveled by way of Nashville, N and Birmingham, L to reach)..

In September 2004 I was sitting, dling in my driveway preparing to go to Hershey, A when my owners saw smoke coming from my dash! My owner quickly disconnected my battery cables. It was time for more parts and work. The winter of 2004 - 2005 saw my interior and exterior completely stripped. All of my body and panels were in very good condition with absolutely no rust, ut I wanted hard crisp body lines so every panel was massaged. My underbody was completely taped off. All four doors, ood, nd tailgate were removed to paint every inch of my interior and exterior with the PPG Fast Red and Deep Space Black.

In 2007 my reassembly began in earnest. I received a Ron Francis wiring harness, ound deadener, inted glass, eadliner, tereo system, ilt column, teering wheel, arpet, ustom duct work, oor panels, eat covers, ustom seat belts, oor handles and locks, lectric windows and electric tailgate window, ll of which were new.

My first trip after my makeover was to Belterra, N to the National Nostalgic Nova convention where I drove on the Nascar Kentucky Speedway track and I was awarded 1st place in the 1966 – 1967 Street division at the Nova Nationals.

In 2008 I carried my owners to the Goodguys PPG Show in Columbus, H, he American Station Wagon Owners convention in Cincinnati, H and the annual National Nostalgic Nova convention in Gettysburg, A. In Gettysburg I was awarded the 1966 – 1967 Super Modified Class winner. I also received a prestigious Gold Class certificate for scoring over 900 points in the 1,000 possible point judged competition.

I attended the All GM Nationals in Carlisle, A in June of 2009 where I was presented with a 3rd place award for the ALL GM Best of Field competition. In July at the Nova Nationals in Belterra, N a professional photographer for the Mixed Martial Arts chose me to pose for hundreds of photos with three MMA ring girls. What a blast!! My paint job matched the colors of their bikinis!! I have never had so much body oil on my paint! There were more guys than ever drooling all over me!

At the NSRA Street Rod Nats East in June 2010 in York, A, received the Street Scene Magazine award. Street Scene magazine photographers took many photos of me for a three page feature that appeared in the January 2012 issue of the magazine. Later in June I carried my owners to Bowling Green, Y. I was invited to be part of a Nova display in the National Corvette Museum for six week with 11 other Nova’s. I was the only Nova that drove to and from the museum and I was the only station wagon.

June 21, 013 was one of my favorite dates. I drove to Secaucus, J and spent the night with several cars much older than I. There were Lincolns, ackard’s (one Packard was a staff car for President Harry Truman), 1918 Dodge Brothers Army Staff Touring car, adillacs, hargers, uicks, ini Coopers, ords, ldsmobile’s, lymouths and many more. The next day we all drove to Times Square in New York City to begin a ten day trip to Kearney, E celebrating the 100th anniversary of the original Lincoln Highway. During the trip we drove as many of the original sections of the Lincoln Highway as possible. We drove on concrete, sphalt, rick and also stone roads. It was ten of the most wonderful days of my life. Our trip ended near the midpoint of the Lincoln Highway in Kearney, E where we met a group of travelers much like ourselves that had begun their Western half trip of the Lincoln Highway in San Francisco, A, here the Lincoln Highway terminates. There was a huge celebration where we were featured in a parade, ar show, nd 100th Anniversary party for the Lincoln Highway. After I returned from this two week trip I had a week off to relax before heading to Charlotte, C for the annual Nova convention. I joined about 75 other Nova’s for several laps around the Charlotte speedway.

Everywhere I go I get smiles and thumbs up from total strangers. People inquire as to what kind of car am I? When they find out that I am a Nova, hey furrow their brows and say “I didn’t know they made Nova station wagons.” These folks relate their Nova stories of their Nova or a relatives Nova. It is so cool to hear these stories about my Nova relatives. Some people I meet ask why I do not travel on a trailer. I am a car, was built to transport people and their belongings, nd I enjoy being a beautiful car that gets to drive wherever I go and put smiles on so many faces of people that I do not even know.
