Chevrolet Camaro 1983 Description
1983 L-69/5 Speed Z-28Prior to the introduction of the L69 the 1982-83 Camaro (and Firebird) were losing the battle against the Mustang - on the streets, n the showroom, n magazines and on the track. After the L69 was introduced everything changed. To not acknowledge the impact the late-year introduction of the L69 had on the 3rd gens is to miss a pivotal point if F-body evolution. Much like the later 1LE cars, t was a "total package". The L69 used the fortified LU5 Cross Fire Injected block, unique & aggressive flat tappet camshaft, nd the LU5's heads but the L69 aluminum intake and the computer controlled L69 Rochester carb flowed 750 CFM compared to the Cross Fire Injected LU5 and the Corvette L83's 475 CFM - a huge difference that resulted in the L69 being rated at 190HP compared to the LU5's 175. Along with the better breathing intake, hevrolet outfitted the Z-28 with a dual scooped air cleaner, special, ree-flowing exhaust system with large diameter exhaust manifolds, -Pipe, nd muffler, he Corvette’s catalytic converter, 3:73 geared rear with aluminum drums and for the first time in an F-Body - the Borg Warner world class T-5 mounted behind a light weight flywheel. It was a calculated collection of parts that changed the outcome of the magazine & street wars of the time. When tested by Motor Trend the L69 turned the quarter in 15.55 seconds compared to the LU5's 16.44, nd when tested by Car & Driver, he L69 turned a 15.0 quarter mile at 93 mph! The package was so significant that every R7U Player’s Cup, CCA & Trans am Series race car built between 1984 & 1986 was an L69, nd there's a reason for that - it performed! Introduced late in the 1983 model year there were only 3,223 Camaros produced with the L69 package. This particular Z28 was manufactured in the Norwood, hio plant in April of 1983 and sold new at Richard’s Chevrolet in Cheshire, T on April 18th 1983. The original owner sold the car 15 years later in 1998 with only 65,644 miles on it. Garage kept its entire life, he second owner used the car locally, aintaining it religiously and only added an additional 1000 miles in the next 17 years. The car shows like a well-kept 32 year old car should, ome minor paint chips & door dings are present, he interior has some indication of wear but the car overall is in very nice condition. The following parts are new or perfect used and have been added to the car to maintain its classic appearance: Front grills, eadliner, isors, peaker covers, ash pad, hifter boot, heel centers, ood & hatch lift supports, tripe kit, uick-ratio power steering box, hermostat, an relay, il pressure sending unit and the intermediate exhaust pipe between the cat and the muffler. The car has been fully detailed and professionally polished, he interior has been shampooed and the engine compartment cleaned. It has all the options you would want from power windows, atch & door locks, ower seat, ruise & tilt wheel, ull gauge package, ir conditioning, -tops, M/FM cassette and rear cargo cover with locking storage well. It is ready for its next owner to drive & enjoy. The third generation Camaro’s & Firebirds are on every future collectable list published today and are beginning to climb in value. As with all collector cars, he ones equipped with the highest horsepower engine available and the most options are the ones most sought after. Low mileage examples of these are very difficult to find – this is an excellent opportunity to purchase a future collector car ahead of the market. Aggressively priced at $9,500 this wonderful example will only go up in value.
