It had a new look with an all new grill and rear bumper with the lights in it as well as side marker lights. The one we have for you is a bad boy that has had an upgraded to a 502 Big Block and a complete resto. In the paragraphs to follow we will give a brief description of the exterior interior and heartbeat of the Chevy but first we would like to tell you a little about us.
Smoky Mountain Traders is a classic car dealer in east Tennessee. We are family owned operated and own our entire inventory no consignments and only deal in muscle cars and vintage auto. You can count on us to have 70 to 80 cars at all times. We don’t have a big show room that our customers would otherwise pay for. So that’s how we can sell for less than other dealers. To contact us for more information pictures or any questions call our office at (865)988-8088 or visit our SmokyMountainTraders website.
We will start off with the exterior of the Chevelle. The body is laser straight with great lines and very good fit of the panels. At the time of the resto they installed new bumpers as well as other chrome. All the weather stripping was replaced to ensure a good fit of the doors and glass. The glass all ooks good as well as the stainless around the windshield and rear glass. It has a new steel 2” Cowl hood. Everything is covered Base/Clear Cranberry Red that is accented by the Black Stripes that are laid under the clear to ensure a slick finish. The final exterior touch is the set of Billet Specialties with 18” up front and 20” with new tires.
Next we will take a look at the interior of the ’70. On the inside everything is done in classic black with the correct bucket seats and console. With the engine upgrade they also upgraded the shifter to a Hurst. The carpet dash and headliner all looks great. When you look at the dash the gauges were changed to the Phantom White Face set made by Auto Meter. The radio is a Pioneer CD Player and the steering wheel was changed to a Billet Specialty Aluminum Wheels.
Finally we will take a look at the heartbeat of the Chevy. Under the hood it’s powered by a GM Crate 502/502 with GM Aluminum Dual Port Heads. The intake is a Bowtie Aluminum with an AED 850 Carb. The Cam is from Crower and it’s a split lift 563/587 with a duration of 287/296 with a 1.70 Rocker. To let this Big Block breather it has Hooker Super Comp Headers with 4” Exhaust back to the flow master mufflers with 3”the rest of the way. The engine is dressed with a Chrome Water Pump and Pulleys and a set of Black Edelbrock Valve Covers and a Chrome Breather. The power runs through a built 400 Turbo Trans and a Moser 12 Bolt Rear End. To keep it cool it has an Aluminum Radiator with twin Electric Fans. Also this Chevelle has Wilwood Four Wheel Disc Brakes with drilled and slotted rotors. It also has Power Steering. Under the front end it has global west tubular control arms with coil over springs and shocks. Out back it has the Global West Track Arms with adjustable bags in the spring with QA1 Shocks. The fuel tank is stainless with a rear mounted fuel pump and filter. All the fuel lines were replaced as well as the brake lines.
