Chevrolet C-10 1984 Description
1984 Chevrolet C-10 Custom Deluxe Half-Ton Pickup “Built for speed off the line” with a 1968 Camaro Engine & 4-Speed Floor Shift VIN: 2GCCC14H9E1226592 Remember the bedtime story of “Jack and the Beanstalk” your Mama told you as a kid? How Jack went to town to peddle the family cow and returned with a handful of “magic beans” instead of cash? I’ve been in the collector car business for the better part of two decades and over the years trained a select number of folks to go out and “birddog” fun. unique vehicles for me. Every so often I’m surprised by what Humphrey arrives back at the shop with and was very pleased when he drove up in this sharp hot-rodded Pickup! Earlier that afternoon he’d stopped by Jim’s Big Twins Custom Motorcycles in nearby Algona to check on a bike and ended up with this truck that belonged to the owner. James Maestas is an award-winning. nationally-known custom bike builder and this rig has been one of his personal drivers for the past seven years. Google him and check out some of the jaw-dropping custom motorcycles he’s built for celebrities. TV shows and even movie promotions like “Pirates of the Caribbean”. Take a good look at my photos. It’s very obvious the attentiveness and care taken by Mr. Maestas has really paid off! With just a casual glance you might think this is just another ol’ truck. But. just like I did. look a little closer and you’ll realize what a find this thing really is! The first hint is when you check for rust in the usual spots. Folks familiar with the Great Pacific Northwest. specifically Western Washington. know we get our share of misty rain. but hardly ever any snow. At the first sign of a falling flake everyone panics and stays home. School is cancelled and business grinds to a halt from “sick” workers calling in. Truth is. our winter roads are rarely salted. so you’ll see very few vehicles here with any serious rust problems! Climb over. under and around this Chevy - I know you’ll come up smiling as there is NO body corrosion (and never has been)! Open the hood and you’re in for another nice surprise. The rig has a great-running short block 350 V-8 engine. (We were told Jim transplanted it - and the “Rock Crusher” four speed tranny - from one of his late sixties Camaros). The second you fire it up. you’ll know it was built to last! The stock four barrel feeds into an Edelbrock high-rise aluminum intake manifold. I love the deep burble this strong motor makes through the easy-breathing long tube Hedman headers and new dual exhaust. Close your eyes and it sounds like a ‘68 Camaro! It’d be very tough finding another pair of these vintage Chevrolet valve covers. too. Though much has been modified. here’s how the VIN code breaks down: 2 – Canadian Built G - GM C – Chevrolet Truck Production C - GVWR 4001-5000 Lbs. C – Conventional Cab 1 - Half-quarter Ton weight capacity 4 - Two Door Cab H - 5. 0L (305 CID) V-8; 4 BBL Carb (engine now switched out) 9 - Check Digit E – 1984 Model Year 1 - Oshawa. Ontario Assembly Plant 225592 – Sequential Production Number Up in the cab you’ll find full factory instrumentation on the dash including oil-water-amp gauges (some read inaccurately). Look at the pictures of the bench seat. It’s in perfect shape on both the base and backrest. The factory carpet has just been replaced. If I were keeping this as a daily driver. my suggestion would be adding a vintage tach to the steering column and upgrading to a modern sound system. Looks like what’s there now in the dash has been since the eighties! I do really like the heavy-duty alloy wheels; all four are straight and true. They finish off the “old school” vibe and all that’s left to do is drop the body about five inches! You’ve gotta agree that’d really finish it off. I know you’ll also be impressed by the classic dark blue paint. It’s had one quality re-spray (to the original factory color) and is as clear and bright as the day this truck rolled off the Oshawa. Ontario assembly line back in October of 1983. All the glass is good. with only two small windshield rock chips; there are NO cracks. The bed has been coated with black bed liner sealer.
