Chevrolet C-10 1960 Description

This 1960 Chevrolet Apache Pick Up Truck is a really great relic ride that people often say reminds them a lot of Sylvester Stallone’s truck from the movie "The Expendables" with its flat black/hot rod looks. The truck at this point really needs nothing mechanically and as it sits has a great look as “rat rod” parts runner and roughly 2500 miles on it since it was reassembled/rebuilt. It features a rather rare step side long bed. The owner of this truck intended to use it to haul his vintage motor cycles in, lthough hehad so much fun tooling around in it he never did put anything in the back. It would make a cool shop truck for someone's business or farm!

Mechanically this truck needs nothing so if you are not much of a mechanic you are all set. For much less then you could pay someone to build the same truck, ou could have yourself a very cool turn key hot rod truck in this auction. It also has great potential for you to do some simple DYI weekend modifications of your own that will only add to the appeal to this truck. It really is a great vehicle to putter with and take to cruises with all the difficult work done. As you read through the write up you will see everything has either been rebuilt or replaced. Now I should qualify that usually "driver" quality on eBay usually means piece of crap. Let's be clear this is a really nice truck, ut by no means a trailer queen either, ence a great car to drive, nd will show well at most local car shows and probably even win a trophy. The car collects lots of attention whether it's cruising down the street or parked.

Finish -- Grade B: The paint is 3-4 years old and is an actual Hot Rod Black that is pretty fade resistant. This paint sits on top of probably 1-2 other coats of paint. There are few minor parking lots chips here and there and the finish is pretty good. I feel the pictures pretty well speak for themselves, t is suppose to look like it’s in primer and in the finishing state/or as good as it going to get . You know like that well weathered look of that Vietnam-era Marine setting at the end of the bar at the local VFW. He’s earned every crease in that leathered skin face that warns you that devil dog still has plenty of fight left in him so just leave him alone…..pretty much this paint job sends the same message.
Body -- Grade B: Overall this is a very solid and clean truck. There is some filler in the hood, nd there has been some repair work to the bottom of the doors but overall it is very solid with original floors. Long bed step side trucks are pretty rare, nd the bed is in great shape, here is a treated wood floor, overed with a thick vinyl mat to protect it and for easy clean up after hauling some parts. Rear bumper has been removed and it features a nice roll panel with LED taillights in stalled. The turn signals have also been upgraded with LED lights and blacked out lenses

It has some tiny hot rod rearview mirrors that actually work well and look cool, t also has some nice cab corner chrome trim.

Frame -- Grade A: Is straight and free of any rust or scale, o signs of any metal repair from collision. The installation of the motor and transmission are clean and professional.
Bumpers - Grade A: New Front bumper, xcellent chrome, ear bumper has been removed.

Bright work -- Grade A: There really is no brightwork left on the truck, ust the cab corner trim which is like new.

Glass Grade C/B : Front Glass is fair. A front windshield is in pretty good shape but the edges have some shadowing on the left and right edges, t does not hurt your line of sight, ut it is what it is, he painter added some window treatment that helps with sunlight glare and hides the shadowing. Side windows are much better free of chips, ith only some light scratches. Rear window is an aftermarket slider window, ith some window tinting that needs some help, ut I open daily to get some ventilation in with no issue. Most of the weather-stripping and window "fuzzies" have been replaced, nd they work well.

Interior B: The interior is pretty much a clean slate. It is clean and comfortable as is and my wife and daughters don’t complain about it, ther than the radio does not work. It has two 1980s era Chevrolet Cavalier seats, hat are in excellent condition are quite comfortable and while not original looks cool in this truck. It has some inexpensive gray indoor/outdoor carpet in it now and sound deadener below it. The dash is a little rough, olid, ut needs to be disassembled and restored, ut looks cool on this relic ride, asily replaced with aftermarket reproduction pieces. It has the original steering wheel; a new AutoMeter Speedometer mounted under the dash. The truck came equipped with a factory gas and temperature gauge, hat both work accurately. There is a cool vintage aftermarket gauge package under the dash with mechanical oil pressure, acuum, mp, nd temperature gauges that all work. It is shifted with a B&M Shifter that is installed professionally and works well. It also has a new fuel tank and fuel sending unit and the gas gauge reads accurately. Windows crank well and the door panels are factory steel units with fresh vinyl armrests are in soft and supple like new condition. It has a vintage Radio Shack Optimus AM/FM Cassette player/radio. Needs an antenna but it does work. Probably could use a speaker too!

Wheels Grade B: This truck has 15” x 7” Dick Cepak five slot magnesium wheels that have been painted flat black.

Tires Grade A: Brand New BF Goodrich Radial T/A white letter Tires 255/60R15 on all four corners

Suspension Grade A: Brand new Classic Performance Products (CPP) suspension kit. Includes heavy duty front and rear sway bars, ustom lowered springs (3’ up front and 4” in the back), atched length performance gas shocks, ie rods and ball joints are either new or in great condition. Truck has a slight rake to it with the rear of the car sitting about an inch higher then the front. Vehicle tracks straight, ith a firm but not too stiff ride and handles very well with a recent front end alignment.

Exhaust Grade A: The Newer side pipe exhaust really makes this truck, t’s a little loud but fun. Sounds awesome at the stop light at an idle!

Rear-end/Differential Grade B: Still features Factory rear end and I’m unsure of the gear. No signs of any leaks, nit has no clunks or noises and works as designed. At 65 MPH it turns 2500 RPM giving it a final drive ratio of roughly 3.23:1, aybe 3.45:1

Ignition Grade A: Stock appearing factory style HEI distributor HP plug wires and AC spark plugs.
Air Conditioning/Heater Grade C: Non-A/C car, ome of the cables need to be freed up. Blower motor does not work. Kick panel vent cables move freely and I have vacuumed out all the vents so all critters, eaves, ine needles, tc. should be gone by now.
Transmission Grade A: When this truck was new it had a floor shift 4 speed manual transmission. It now has a 350 Turbo Hydramatic automatic transmission from a later model truck. I was told it had a recent rebuild from the previous owner. Fluid is clear, nd free of burn scent and no visible leaks. It shifts crisp and clean with a strong chirp in 2nd gear indicating a possible performance shift kit upgrade. The B & M Shifter is professionally installed and works great. When the truck was converted to an auto transmission set up they removed the clutch pedal and covered the shifter hole.

Brakes Grade A: CPP Power brakes, isc brakes conversion kit up front and factory drums in the rear. All new brake lines, ew front rubber lines, nd rear axle rubber line, so new lines throughout) a new master cylinder, ew front factory style discs and rotors, ront pads, ropped spindles and related brake hardware, ew fluid and freshly bled. Rears brakes appeared to have been recently serviced and operate to specifications. Brakes perform very well and exceed factory specifications.
Engine Grade A: The motor is a new Chevrolet Performance 350 SB V8 Crate Motor. It has HEI ignition, eaders, ummit Racing dual intake and 750 Carburetor, ith electric choke. The timing chain was upgraded with a gear drive unit that gives it a wicked whine as you roll down the road. The engine has a healthy performance idle and it pulls smooth right off idle without hesitation through out acceleration. The choke functions well in all climate conditions. There is no black smoke, nd carburetor responds better then fuel injection. It has a Chevy HP Dress Up kit that matches the theme of the truck. Engine features new starter, lternator, attery, adiator, nd hoses. Brackets are all factory and period correct and installation is very clean. Car also features a new three row radiator (not a re-core), ith 5 bladed fan with thermostatic factory style clutch. Oil pressure holds a steady 60 lbs of pressure when warm, nd engine stays cool with no boil over even in stop and go traffic on hot summer days and even driven in several parades with no issues!.

Engine compartment is clean, ith some patina surrounding it to give it that relic ride feel, ut attracts lots of attention when you pop the hood.
Summary:
This is a tough looking truck as it sits right now, ith its hot rod black paint job and modern performance upgrades. It’s a pretty maintenance free look, hich looks good with a quick spray off at the car wash. It is a very nice truck to drive with smooth acceleration, nd clean comfortable cabin. The performance idle through the pipes makes it a hit at the cruise in or at the stop light. The upgraded suspension greatly improves the overall driving experience of the car with a smooth flat handling in the curves; ride is firm, ut not so stiff to be unbearable for a long drive. Operation is very reliable and without issue and the engine pulls hard off idle up to 5000 rpm. It is a lot of fun to run through the gears. The upgraded suspension launches straight with no wheel hop when you drop the hammer. The truck as is would make a great reliable, aily driver that would be a blast to drive everyday to work. You could fly into Traverse City, ick it up and literally drive this car anywhere in North America home without issue.

That said, s this truck car draws quite a crowd as is and easily could be driven without shame and has already won a couple trophies in this condition. (It’s that cool!!) It's a perfect truck for someone who has limited mechanical skills but wants a cool hot rod truck to drive daily without concern and putter with. It’s rarity as a long box step side also makes it a decent investment in that there will always be an interest in it. Especially with vintage motorcycles guys
This truck really needs nothing else replaced and is road ready for cruising. Mechanically it has been totally gone through and all maintenance items (battery, lternator, rakes, adiator, tc) are new or recently serviced! You can drive this car literally anywhere without issue. So if doing a full restoration or building a bad news street terror is outside your skills level but your looking a for a great muscle truck this the rig for you.
