Chevrolet's Deluxe line was the sales volume leader across the Chevrolet line during the 1940s. These cars were advertised with the styling slogan, Royal Clipper Styling." The Special Deluxe was a well-appointed version and first introduced in 1940. With a price range of $720-$934, here were 431,199 sold. Chevrolet would produce GM's 25 millionth car in the 1940 model year.

This Special Deluxe model 4-door sedan displays an older restoration in brown and tan. The paint and body are in very good condition. The chrome work has been redone. The rubber seals were replaced throughout.

Power is courtesy of the classic Chevrolet Stovebolt-Six. This 216 cubic inch powerplant was factory rated at 78 horsepower. Known for their durability, hese engines carried the same basic design from the introductory year of 1929 to 1960. This isa good running motor in this car, aired with the 3-speed column-shifted standard transmission.

This engine is fitted with an air cleaner & downdraft carburetor. Though the restoration was done some time ago, ur shop did some work on this car in February of 2014. We replaced the center drive link, nstalled a new carburetor, nd did some general maintenance.

The grille style resembles a higher priced Buick of the time. This Chevrolet Special Deluxe also displays a keen front bumper guard, og lamps, nd spot light assembly. There are fender-mounted turn signals as well. Several things distinguished the Special Deluxe line, ncluding dual windshield wipers, long with stainless steel hood & beltline trim.

The Special Deluxe Chevrolet line was "new" for 1940 and well-appointed. Part of the package was a rim-blown horn. The upholstery has been restored in a very nice faux suede with matching door panels and headliner.

This dashboard is in beautiful condition, isplaying the original instrumentation and brightwork throughout. A vintage turn signal box has been mounted on the column.

The clock was part of the Special Deluxe package and was said to run for 30 hours without winding again. Dual windshield wipers were also part of the package, ow that's living.

The emergency brake is functional as is the original foot start pedal.

The door panels and upholstery are in great shape. They show very well and the material feels like real suede.

The headliner is in great shape, estored to match the seating and interior panels.

The glass and glass surround molding shows well throughout.

The back seat hasn't really been used since restoration. This car has been in garaged storage and occasionally driven.

Trunkless coaches and sedans would disappear by 1939, he 1940 model year brought better integrated trunks.

The trunk itself looks to be in very good condition, ith the wooden storage door intact and hinged. The pan is covered with a rubber mat.

The underbody looks exceptionally solid front to back. The suspension has been previously rebuilt. The frame is straight and in good condition as well.

The fuel tank has been previously replaced.

The door identification plate is intact and legible.

This car has an auxiliary spot light for the driver.

Under hood, he stove bolt six was previously rebuilt and painted blue with a red valve cover for a vibrant look.

Again, he firewall is exceptionally solid. The series/model identification plate is not there anymore.

The bumpers are in beautiful condition. The bumper guards display the Chevrolet insignia.
