Chevrolet Impala 1964 Description

Are you looking to go cruising with the gang on a Saturday night but ain’t willing to pay the ridicules prices most are asking for classic cars? This may be your next ride. You are looking at my 64 Chevy Impala Sport Coupe. I recently bought this car from a long time friend who needed quick cash for his business. Although I love the car. I can’t keep it so I’m offering it to you. I’d classify this car as a nice 20 yarder and a safe. reliable cruise night car. If you don’t mind a bubble here and a chip in the paint there. this car doesn’t need anything. If you are looking for a show car. I’d say keep looking. this ain’t it. The car is an older restoration. The paint shows its age but still shines. There is no visible rust but there are a few bubbles behind each front wheel and in front and behind each rear wheel. Also a bubble in the front of the hood. I’m guessing these areas have bondo. There is a crack (common with these cars) on top of the right ¼ (pictured). The doors. trunk lid and roof are solid. The front floors need work. The trunk floor is solid. I had to fix the frame behind the rear wheels (pictured). This is a common problem with these cars. I used 2x4x. 125 rectangular stock and made professional repairs. The rest of the frame is solid. The body mount behind the left rear wheel is gone. The front bumper is peeling and has a small dent. Grill is nice. All the trim is intact but the anodizing is a little dull. Some of the ¼ panel trim has screws or pop rivets. The rear bumper and deck lid trim are very nice. The star of the show is the interior. The black interior is original style and is very nice. No tears. stains or fade. Headliner is nice. Factory padded dash has one crack in the corner of the speaker. Those are pennies in the speaker slots (is a nostalgia thing). Please note factory tach (it works too) and cherry original steering wheel. All glass is good. On a scale of 1 to 10. the body. paint and trim is a 6 to 7. the interior an 8. The engine is a 66 283 with 327 double hump heads and a 4bbl. It leaks a little oil but runs good. Car has power steering (works fair) and manual brakes (they work good). Clutch is 11”. The Trans is 1980 Chevy truck A833 4 speed O. D. tranny. Shifter is Hurst. The gearing is : 1st = 3. 09 2nd = 1. 67 3rd = 1. 00 4th = 0. 73 The rear is a real “P” case posi with 4:10 gears. So. how did it drive? With the 4:10 gears in the rear. 1st was real low. 2nd felt nice but I think that with a higher rear gear. the gap in the ratio between 1st & 2nd could be more noticeable. 3rd was a great cruising gear and 4th. the over drive gear really helped keep the RPM down on the high way. At 65 MPH. the motor was turning 2900 RPM. The tranny has a wine but there is nothing wrong with it. These truck Trans have a more straight cut gear like a M22 Muncie. The exhaust is duals with glass packs. Car has a nice rumble to it but is not obnoxious. It sounds like a 64 Impala should. All the tires are good and the vintage style wheels have no bends or pitting. Car runs cool and is reliable. It drives straight and has a nice ride (for a 64). This car will easily survive a 2+ hour drive home. I think I covered all the bases. You are more than welcome to come see and drive the car. It’s a great Saturday night special………….
