I bought the truck with the original paint still on it. It had minimal rust at which I addressed by replacing and welding in new floor pans and welding in and replacing rockers. The floor is solid. The running boards look solid as pictured and cab corners are solid. The fenders have no rust but do have minor dents (see pics) that I elected not to fix and leave solid metal (very minor) The box is solid with the original wood slats still in tact and has been covered with a dimond plate sheet. (see video and pics) . It has a brand new tailgate that opens and shut. The doors open and shut and the windows go up and down. The driver window glass is missing and the windshield has cracks (Easy replacment jim carter trucks. priced reasonable). I pictured any glass that is there. I addressed the mechanics of the truck by doing a complete tune up which included points. plugs. condesor. fuel pump. rebuilt carb. I also purchased a new master cylinder and new brake wheel cylinders for the rear. I used the original brake wheel cylinders for the front. The truck stops and works on all four brakes. I purchased all new clutch parts. (flywheel. pressure plate etc) and had it installed. The clutch works the way it should. The shift linkage was stiff from sitting so I lubed it and now it shifts the way it should in all three gears and reverse. We put a new exhaust on. The things that should be done to complete this truck would be to recover the fabric in the seats (has seat cover on now) clean the original tank or replace it (155 jim carter truck for a new tank) It is running off a small aux gas tank tank right now that does not go with the truck. The tires have plenty of tred but are old. The spare is the wrong size spare and is on for looks. As the video shows. this truck goes down the road at 50 mph and drives the way a 1954 should drive in my opinion. This truck is a absolute blast when driving. The paint on the truck is a amature paint job that looks alot better in the pics and video than what it is. From ten feet away. it looks like a top quality paint job but when you get closer. you can see the flaws. I would call this as a amature level daily driver paint job. I pictured and videoed any cosmetic spot I saw. The wire harness has been bypassed and is running on a 12 volt system. The lights guages etc are not hooked up. If you want to leave it as a 6 volt system and want to use the original harness that is there. you would have guages and lights etc. If you elect to leave it 12 volt. you would have to change the bulbs to 12 volt bulbs. etc. I would replace the wire harness as the one that is there is the original and may have shorts from age (easy replacment jim carter trucks $205). I do not want to overcall this truck or undercall it. look at the pics. watch the hd video. and ask questions and undertsand that you are bidding on a 61 year old truck and some things may go unseen by us. This truck starts up on the first try by turning the key on. pulling the choke. hitting the starter floor button and she pops right over. This truck comes with a clean ready to register numbers matching the vin plate title. I invite you to come and drive/inspect the truck or hire ebay to do a independant inspection for you before placing a bid. I can recommend shippers I have used in the past who have been very reasonable. Thanks and have fun bidding on this very fun 1954 chevy 1/2 ton truck!Photo GalleryAdditional InformationVehicle History ReportDon't buy a used car without CARFAX®!
