Chevrolet C-10 1965 Description
This is a classic 1965 Chevrolet C 10 Pickup. It is in near original unrestored condition. My son bought it. intending to restore it and convert it to a small block V8. He has been reassigned to the west coast. Shipping and storage will eat alot of his restoration budget so I'm selling it for him. It is very difficult to obtain information on these trucks. The short vin makes carfax etc. unusable. Here is what I know about the truck. I have the original title. and owners manual in mint. unused condition. It was purchased on 8/30/65 from C. W. Puckett GMAC in Atlanta Ga. According to county and state DMV records. it appears that it spent its whole life with one owner in West Central GA. Up until recently. it was with its original owner and kept in his barn. The older gentleman sold the truck to a man who owns an antique business. The man intended to drive the truck around while buying and selling antiques here in West Central GA. He put new brakes. brake lines in the truck. The fuel tank was removed. acid washed and lined with a new sending unit installed. He install a new exhaust system. That was all that was needed to make the truck roadworthy. After a short time he realized that he needed a larger. faster vehicle to conduct his every day businees so he sold the vehicle to my son. This truck is 50 years old. it is a very nice example of a southern classic 65 chevy C 10 pickup. It has rust in the usual places but overall it is very solid. There is surface rust on the leading edges. at body rub points. around lights etc. There are rust through points on the drivers rocker panel. rear lower front fenders. and the rear bottom corner of the passenger side cab. There is rust near the gasket top front passenger side door frame. I have been told that this is the original engine and transmission in this truck. I've tried to research the numbers but have had no luck. I have included photos of the Vin. he motor number and the transmission number. If anyone knows how to varify these numbers as to whether the motor. ransmission etc are original please let me know. The speedometer stopped working last week. it reads 32574 miles. I can not find any record in the county or state record with an odmeter reading. So I cannot varify the milage. I can tell you that the truck starts immediately. It runs as quiet as any modern engine. We live on a washboard dirt road. when driving over this rough road surface. nbsp;the truck is solid. with almost no rattles. squeaks etc. It could very well be a 32000 mile pickup. The transmission shifts as it should. The clutch has a much longer lead in than our modern clutches. It may just need to be adjusted. Once you reach the friction point it engages smoothly and then shifts into second and third like new. It engages into reverse like new. I'm told the truck has the original wooden floor boards in the bed. They are in very good condition. They are weathered but solid. If they are original this supports the claim that the truck was always keed indoors in the owners barn. I can't find what species the original bed boards would have been. Seems like oak or ash. These don't look like either. The photos of the underneath of the truck demonstrate the condition of the wood. The exterior of the truck is white. however. there are severl places at body rub points where I can see blue. I think the truck may have been blue at one point unless they used a blue primer. The front bumper sits slightly up on the passenger side. I have additional photos that show no frame damage. The older gentleman must have nudged something at some point. The dash. and interior in general is in extraordinary shape for the age of the vehicle. I have done the best I can to describe the truck and there are lots of photos. I have lots more photos mainly of the undercarriage. which is solid. The add only allows 24 photos. The original radio is gone. It has a replacement. radio cassette player and a speaker under the seat. The drivers visor is missing. If you need more photos or clarification on anything please contact me. NADA Classic Car guide places the low retail value on this truck at $11. 30. 00 This truck is sold "as is. as shown" with no warranty expressed or implied. It is available to be seen by local bidders. All shipping arrangements and cost shall be at the buyers expense. I will be happy to assist loading etc. onto the transport truck.
