Chevrolet Other Pickups 1948 Description
Selling my beloved 48' Chevy truck. A 5 window deluxe trim with a long bed! Very rare upgrades for an old work truck. It is unmolested and complete minus a driver side headlight bucket and gas cap. I have the clear correct Washington title for the truck. I drive this thing on sunny days around town and always enjoy it. It runs, drives, and stops but has a leaky master cylinder so I just top it off every now and again. This is a one ton (3800), but a single axle with normal body panels and everything.
The engine is what makes this truck so unique. Upgraded from a 235 to a 261 (full pressure oil system) straight 6 with the highest flowing 235 head to bump up compression. A HEI distributor eliminates points and delivers spark. An old school moroso remote oil filter spin on was added also. The truck is 12v with a working alternator. There is a 4 barrel Weber carb sitting on an aluminum 6=8 Clifford intake and spits its exhaust through Clifford long tube headers. Starts right up every time with the original foot starter and idles smoothly. The radiator is newer and an older honeycomb style which offers a massive amount of cooling. There is a sun tech, with sending unit that should work with a new battery in the sending unit. everyone that rides in this is impressed on how smooth the engine is.
Transmission is a 4 speed with granny low, all gears work and shift easily. Rear end was updated with 4:11 gears to make driving a little more tolerable on the freeway. Shifter is topped with the old school crystal door knob. Old school turn signal indicator still on the column.
The dash still has the radio delete plate in it, has a few extra holes drilled in but isn't hacked to shreds. Seat is rough, but never bothered me with the blanket over it. Bed of the. speedo works but is bouncy and pretty accurate, other gauges work as well! A REAL Fulton visor tops the cab.
The body is pretty straight for its age, perfect for a rat rod. The cab needs both corners, floor needs just minimal work on the toe board, front of the cab corners need patches too but everything available through multiple websites. There are a few extra holes around the truck from signals and other things added then taken away. Rear center window is broken. bed wood is there, but some holes and should be replaced. The bed sides are made from oak and give the truck a sweet look.
This truck is a perfect candidate for a full restore or a rat rod. I was going to bag it, bob the bed to a unique length fix the minimal rust and just go cruising!
