Chevrolet Camaro 1972 Description

This 1972 Camaro is a pristine example of a concourse-quality frame-up restoration. No expense was spared on the interior, paint, and drive train. Finished in a factory-accurate Cortez Silver, the timeless lines of the split bumper second-generation Camaro come to life, and are accented by the black Rally Sport stripes. The paint was professionally applied, and there are no indications of any amateur work. The Rally Sport stripes are painted on for that extra "pop." Although all the paint is original color, but it was updated to a 2-part base and clear coat for added longevity over a single stage paint.

The Interior was also redone to the original specification. The black leather seats show only minor wear and tear, and the driver side has only a couple small tears on some seams that should be easy to repair. The back seats still look like new. All gauges work as they should, as does the radio. The single speaker in the dashboard makes a drive down the road feel like it was back in 1972! All of the glass in this car is accurate, new or well preserved. The trim and brightwork is all properly restored with no blemishes to indicate wear or misuse. The emblems are accurate and nicely restored or new. All exterior trim, bumpers, fittings, doors, chrome, is correct and well restored or new. he trunk is restored according to manufacturer specifications. All surfaces have been correctly refinished.

The powertrain in this car is the crown jewel of the restoration, and of many Camaro enthusiasts. The entire powertrain (engine, trans, and differential) are all numbers matching. The 350ci, LT-1 V8 is the last of the high-performance solid-lifter motors produced by GM until the later model Camaros and Corvettes came on-scene with hydraulic lifters. Rated at 255, the horsepower rating was 15 more than the 396 big block (240hp) offered in the SS trims. Behind the LT-1 was the venerable heavy-duty, close-ratio M-22 "Rock Crusher" 4-speed manual transmission. Normally found behind the 396ci, it is suspected that only 215 Z28 Camaros had the M-22 option. The entire powertrain was restored, rebuilt, or refreshed to factory specifications at the time of the total restoration, and only have 415 miles since the restoration was complete. This powertrain option in a true, nbsp;dual code RS-Z/28 car is expected to be one of 97 produced in this year. That's one of 97 produced... who knows how many still survive.

Unfortunately, we are unaware of how many miles the beautiful Camaro had on the chassis before the restoration was started. However, we can confirm that the rear quarters, deck lid, and other areas prone to rust are original, and either had never been replaced, or were done so with extreme attention to detail. There is no bondo or body filler anywhere on this car which is why we suspect that there was never any corrosion on this car.

To verify the authenticity and rarity of this vehicle, a scan of the original build sheet is included in the listing. The original build sheet was found under the rear seat during the restoration process. The ORIGINAL build sheet, though badly faded from the years, will be included with the car when it sells, as well as a clearer copy to keep on display while the originals is locked away in a safe!

Another added bonus that a lot of rare, original Muscle Cars do not get to experience is an appearance at the SEMA show in Las Vegas. This Camaro was featured in the booth of Anzo USA, at the 2014 SEMA show in Las Vegas to kick off their launch of LED aftermarket lighting for classic and muscle cars. Here, it garnered the praises of some of Chevrolets highest ranking executives who were thoroughly impressed with the quality of the restoration. the Anzo lights, though pictured in a few pictures, will not be included, and the stock headlights have been reinstalled for originality.
