Chevrolet Suburban 1965 Description
Have you ever even seen a 1965 Chevy Suburban before, et alone one this cool? With big block power, uel injection, nd all the bells and whistles, his is not only a very rare big truck, ut also a very capable one that will take you cross-country and is welcome at just about any show you can find. It's big and orange, o there's no sneaking around in this massive 'Burb. Chevy has been in the SUV business since the mid-30s, o this was nothing new, ut you simply don't see many of these running around today. That appears to be Hugger Orange paint, hich always looks best on vehicles when they're wearing bowties, nd the white top gives it a period look that's very appealing. Paint and bodywork are in good condition with some signs of use, ecause this truck was definitely made to be enjoyed, o it's no longer perfect. The unique 2-door body style actually looks sporting and the two-tone finish helps hide its size a bit, aking this truck really sleek when it's hauling down the highway. In back, ou get two large barn-style doors for easy access to the cavernous cargo bay and all the original chrome and trim was retained. In fact, f it's bright and shiny, t was probably polished, estored, r replaced during the build a few years ago and still looks great today. The interior retains that 1960s sensibility with freshly upholstered bench seats and a no-nonsense cabin. GM was big on gold interiors, hich is bright and clean-looking and gives the massive Suburban a period-perfect look. The steering wheel will look familiar to anyone who has driven a Camaro or Corvette of the period and the instrument panel is the same clean sheet of Plexiglas with gauges behind it that was used on the mid-60s GM trucks. There's a powerful A/C unit under the dash that's quite effective, ven with all that space to chill, nd there's an auxiliary temperature gauge under the dash. The factory AM radio is probably due for a replacement, nd in a vehicle as ideally suited to road trips as this one, t should be a priority. The back seat has plenty of stretch-out room and if you've got a lot of gear to haul, his is your truck, ecause the cargo bay is vast.A late-model 454 cubic inch V8 has been dropped under the hood, nd thanks to electronic fuel injection, t starts instantly, dles smoothly, nd works like your daily driver. It's a neat fit in the Suburban's giant engine bay and it has a very OEM look with the twin-snorkel air cleaner and Chevy Orange paint on the block. A newer dual master cylinder was added for safety, long with a set of disc brakes, nd with something this big, ou're also going to be glad it's got power steering. A TH400 3-speed automatic works well with the big torque big block and a heavy-duty rear end is set up to work. The undercarriage is clean and tidy with plenty of signs that this truck was built for the road, ncluding a mellow dual exhaust system, ig sway bars fore and aft, nd those gorgeous 20-inch Ridler wheels with 275/45/20 performance radials. An uncommon truck with an uncommon level of quality, eady to go. It's not perfect, ut if you want to make a statement, t's hard to beat 6000 pounds of SUV pushed around by a big block. Call today!
